Spring Break!

Spring Break is here!  I look forward to this break more than winter break I think.  But I'm probably only saying that because now it's spring break and not winter break, but either way, it's awesome and I'm ready to go have some fun.
Our first stop actually was anything but fun.  We took the long way to Toquerville to say good bye to Grandma Stewart.  She's been close to death for about a week now, and we knew this would be our last chance to see her.  She has been sleeping mostly and not really aware of anything, but she did wake up long enough to look at us and say she sure loved us.  Grandma Stewart is a little cranky, very stubborn lady, but she didn't love anything more then her grandkids and great grandkids.

Celebrating our survival

Davis wanted to go get a treat tonight, and he wanted to drive.  By time I got out to the car Davis was in the drivers seat, Owen in the passenger and Gator was smiling because she knew I'd get the back with her.  It is a whole different experience in the back seat, and I didn't like it.  Poor Davis had Owen coaching him from the front and me in the back.  He really did do really well, I was just really freaked out a couple of times.  These Zeppes treats were a treat to our survival.  I can't believe I am teaching my second teenager to drive, it may as well be Gator in that drivers seat.  I'm just giving up, there is no way to keep them from growing up and thinking they are boss.

Rec league champs!

Davis's Golden Goats team had an undefeated season and won the championship tonight.  I'm so glad they won because we got to go to Zeppes after the game to celebrate!

Trying something new

Owen wanted to letter in four sports as an athlete at Fremont.  He has wrestling, football, and basketball, so he decided to add track.  He threw shot put in 9th and 10th grade, but he didn't last year, nor has he ever ran a relay.  He took 2nd at the meet in shot, and did great in the relay.  I admire my kids and their ability to reach out beyond their comfort zone and try something new.  They didn't get that from me, because I never seem to get out of my comfort zone.  I've got some awesome kids!

The Wizard of Oz

Since we're not busy enough, Gator wanted to audition for a play at the Junior High.  He opened it up to elementary school children to play the munchkins in The Wizard of Oz.  I tried really hard to discourage Gator from trying out because I just didn't want another thing added to our schedule.  But I agreed to let her try out.  I was so proud of her because she had to prepare and sing a song in front of the teacher all by herself.  And it has been 2 months of rehearsals twice a week and 2 weeks of rehearsals every day.  She has had her basketball, soccer, and her social life to juggle, but she has done awesome.  I was amazed as I went to 3 nights of the play, these are Junior High and Elementary kids.  They did a great job!  I am so glad that she didn't let me keep her from doing something that she wanted to do.

Girls Date

A girls morning out!  Gator and I went to Disney On Ice with Rachelle and Millie.  I joked that it was an end of high school basketball season celebration.  Little sisters have to put up with a lot during these seasons as well.  But really we just wanted to go to the show and out to breakfast.

Causes me stress

Davis came to me concerned about his acne.  I received a flyer in the mail about an acne study Tanner Clinic was doing.  If accepted to and upon completion of the study they pay $400.  Davis was all over this idea knowing it would be pretty easy money.  Well, he was wrong about that.  Yesterday he had one of his appointments and they had to do a blood draw.  He's cut his head open twice, broke his arm, and has had numerous other injuries, but he's never had to have blood drawn.  And he found out that the $400 wasn't quite an easy guarantee.  He was sitting in the chair totally fine, talking about going skiing this weekend when all the sudden he said "mom, I don't feel good." After that he was gone, completely passed out.  But then he started seizing.  I see that every day at work, but this was my kid and he looked completely awful.  We remained in the office for about 30 minutes while they gave him juice and talked to him, while all he wanted to do was sleep.  It was terrifying.  He was pretty ill feeling the rest of the afternoon with a killer headache, but they say it was just a bad reaction to the blood draw.  At the end of the study, he'll have to go through this again, she said she would definitely lay him down that time.
And another thing to cause me great stress is today Davis got his permit.  I've got 2 teenage drivers.  It just can't be true.  I lived through it once, I can do it again.

10 years old!!

Today is Gator's 10th birthday.  She's double digits, she may as well be 18 with how fast she is growing up.  But she is sure fun to see grow up.  Gator is the life of the party and makes everything exciting.  She is always up for an adventure and wants to do everything.  I practically have to tie her to the bed at night to get her to stop.  Right now she loves legos, barbies, and of course her babies.  Gator is a very tender hearted friend to everyone and we are all lucky to have her in our lives.  Since her birthday was on Sunday and we had the wedding yesterday, she had a drawn out celebration with things on different days.  But the more days to celebrate, the more awesome the birthday is.

Jessica got married

I'm exhausted from all the craziness that has been going on, but I'm also up waiting for Owen & Davis to get home from the concert so I may as well post some pictures.   We spent the day in Salt Lake for Jessica's wedding.  It was freezing and windy, but still a beautiful day.  The boys were with us at the temple, but then I had given them concert tickets as part of their Christmas gifts before I knew when the wedding would be.

And the boys at the concert.  I had to get pretty cranky with them to get this picture.  After all these years you'd think it would just be instinct.  Go somewhere, send a picture to mom.  Does it sound that hard?

Playoffs

Fremont's basketball season is now done.  First round they played at Weber State and then went onto the second round at The U.  They had a great season.  And now Owen is no longer a high school athlete, the next game he competes in will be in college.  That is still so hard to say.
