A whole lot of random

Time to clear off my phone again.  Just posting some of the random pictures that I have collected the last little while. 

Davis was acknowledged at a game and given the dog bone.  His coaches recognized him for taking care of his team, and being the one to start off every single play with snapping the ball. 

 Owen was given some game tickets by Carrie and Wayne.  The lucky dog got to go to the season openers of the Utah Utes. 

 Gator felt it necessary to take some precautions while Owen was first driving with his learners permit. 

 This is a tradition that I cherish and I'm not even a part of it.  Every April and October, the boys go to dinner and priesthood session with grandpa Jones.  I love that they have such great people in their lives for role models. 

 Ally looks just like Krissy's youngest two Bethany and Ivy.  She loves to tell people that she has double cousins. 

 Davis was the smart one this day, and went to a birthday party instead of a football game.  Just 2 weeks after we were stranded without brakes, we were stranded with a flat tire.  My kids are not going to go anywhere with me anymore.  At least this time, we were stranded right by a Swig, drinks and cookies for everyone while we waited for some help. 

 Davis is picking right up where Owen left off with the mentality of eh, my mom will be here for work, it doesn't matter if I "forget" to have her sign this paper, or if I "forget" my ID.  Good thing he is such a handsome boy, and I love working the school.  I always know where to find a hug. 

 Owen and Collin chilling at the mall in the massage chairs.  They got a relaxing massage before they went to the movie. 

 It is an injustice to let an awesome rain storm go without puddle jumping.  Ally is teaching the skill of puddle jumping to her cousins.  They caught on fast, and these girlies had a great time playing in the rain.

 Baby heaven.   Gator is obsessed with babies.  She was in heaven meeting Karoline, and didn't put her down for a couple of hours. 

 September 27th is Chocolate Milk Day.  We will definitely celebrate this day, chocolate milk is a necessity. 

 "Lulu therapy".  Lulu is a celebrity with Gator. 

Gator was absolutely clueless while I was taking this picture.  Good think Owen was just pretending for the picture, that donut is one bite to him and it's gone. 

 

Davis got glasses.  I think he looks so handsome.  He is the same age I was when I started wearing glasses.  I was hoping none of my kids got my eyes.  Owen seems to be doing good, and Gator hasn't had problems yet, but Davis is the unlucky one, sorry pal. 

 

Something to go see

We saw something cool yesterday on our way out of Weber/Davis county.  There were firetrucks and cops everywhere, and where they were, flags were being raised.  On every over pass, firetrucks had large flags hanging from the overpass.  As we drove on thinking it was some sort of tribute to 9-11 we soon saw hundreds of motorcycles preceded by a firetruck escort.  It was quite a sight to see, and I got chills all over.   Gator not knowing about 9-11 asked a lot of questions, and we had a neat conversation about the events of that day and the impact it had on our country.  I loved hearing the boys point of view on such a huge part of our countries history.  Today Davis was googling the motorcycle precession and found an article about the whole thing.  It was in honor of Utah firefighters that had been killed in 2014.  Motorcycle riders were riding from Sandy to Ogden where a new tribute was unveiled honoring these firefighters.  Pretty darn cool I think, and we will definitely be going into Ogden to see this new tribute. 

Cecret Lake

This week was hard on me.  I love that my kids are involved and I absolutely love watching them and supporting them in all their activities, but sometimes I just miss hanging out with them.  This week I missed them bad, I wanted it to be summer again, so we could play and spend time together.  I decided to run away for the day.  No school, work, football practice, soccer practice, primary, games, or homework.  I wanted a day to just be with my kids, and today was awesome.  I saw this hike online up in Alta ski resort.  The pictures were beautiful, and I've wanted to go on this hike for a couple of years.  I was able to talk the kids into a hike even though they were sore from football games, just because online it said "relatively flat and is more than a stroll than a hike."  Well, I call lies on that ones, because this hike was hard and almost all uphill.  At the end, there is a sign congratulating you on your final ascent to Cecret Lake and there before you are awful switchbacks full of huge boulders and a steep incline.  We couldn't turn back, so we went for it, Gator and I in flipflops and all.  We made it, and it was gorgeous.  We soaked our tired feet in the cold water, wishing we could jump in, but there were signs everywhere that said no swimming, darn it.  Coming down was easy and helped us forget the terrible time we had hiking up.  Alta is so pretty, and fall is coming to the mountains.  This time of year makes me so happy!

Coming down out of the canyon, I had to pull over and take some pictures by these amazing trees.  It got me so excited for our fall drive day in 3 weeks!

 My excitement was short lived, however.  An awful smell and smoke clued me in on the fact that I didn't have brakes.  It was scary to think about with my kids in the car, luckily there was a pull off near by and that is where we remained for the next 2 1/2 hours until Clark and PJ made their way from home to where we were.  I set off this morning wanting a day with just my kids and that is what I got.  They were pretty cranky with me, knowing it wasn't my fault, but it was hot and we didn't have any water.  I grabbed a blanket out of the trunk and we walked to a shaded spot.  They are great sports about it now, and all is well.  All part of the great memories of the day. 

Mayor's Cup

Second place isn't too shabby.  These girls played awesome this morning in the finals, but just ran out of time.  The final score was 1 to 2.  Gator had lots of fans supporting her and her team, thank you!

Games

Fall is soccer/football season, and the kids are busy busy busy with their practices and games.  This week Gator was in her first soccer tournament.  The Strikers played great and played their way to the championship on Monday. 

Owen's team played Riverton this week.  Fremont began the game with a big lead, but they fell out of sync a little and had to fight until the very end of the game.  Fremont came out on top 28 to 27.  I am so glad I had to leave at halftime for soccer, because I just cannot take that kind of stress. 

 

 Davis's team played Syracuse this week. It was almost a repeat of Owen's game on Thursday.   West Haven started out on fire recovering their own kick off and scoring a touchdown, but then they struggled some until the end of the game when they rocked on defense and won 20 to 14.  Way too close for me, but everyone else said it was such a great game. 

 Exciting win!

 Ally and her friend Paisley rode the wagon down the hill laughing the whole way and ended by crashing into the school fence, they jumped out, ran up the hill and did it again and again.
