24th of July

It was a holiday weekend, but everyone kinda spread out.  I worked, Owen and Kylee went to St George with some friends, Davis went camping until a friend dropped his transmission so they came home early and went hammocking instead, and Gator went up to Clarks yesterday and was supposed to go today, but he wasn't feeling well.  So I got to spend the evening with her after work.  We went to the DI, her new favorite store, for some school clothes, and then we hung out with Joey.  So I think it was a pretty good weekend, even if we were all different places.  At least we all had fun and made it home to be together.
I got a snap from Owen this weekend.  I didn't even know it was parents day.  Nice picture of him.

Love Thunderstorms

One thing that I love about Utah summers (that we just haven't had this year, and I'm pretty upset about it) is the late afternoon thunderstorms that roll in.  It is hot all day, but clouds start forming and thunder and rain soon follow.  My favorite!

Cove Fort and Sand Hollow

This weekend was a little different than we had originally planned, but it all turned out perfect.  Owen wanted to go to a rodeo in Nephi and Davis wanted to go camping/4 wheeling in Sand Hollow with Carrie's family.  So I thought Gator and I would take a drive as well and visit Dave and Sheila on their mission then go to Sand Hollow for a day and swim.   So her and I planned to drive to Cove Fort Saturday, then stay in Milford that night, and Owen & Kylee would drive to Milford after the rodeo, and we would all drive to the lake on Sunday.  Well, Davis' s 4 wheeler broke, but we all still wanted to go down, so we kept our plans and Davis just went down with me and stayed Sunday night with Carrie and Wayne and played more and then came home with them today.  The rest of us drove home last night.  A wild fire had just started and that was a bit scary to drive through.  We got past it just in time because they had to shut down I15 in both directions.  The weekend all worked out fun, and it was nice to take 2 cars down instead of 3.  And Davis got to go with us to visit Dave and Sheila.  Cove Fort is closed because of Covid, but we still got a personal tour with permission from their mission president.  They also took us for a drive through Fremont Indian Park.  That was cool, I told Krissy we should go down again for fall break, that is if we go back to school to have a fall break.  Sand Hollow was HOT.  Oh my gosh, it was so hot.  I don't know how they had all camped down there for 3 days.  It was so much fun at the lake though.  I couldn't talk myself into the cliff jumping, I'm just getting to be such a chicken in my old age.  It made me nervous enough just watching my kids jump off.  So the weekend was a bit hectic and a little bit different than we had planned, but it was a lot of fun.  I love doing stuff with my kids and my family.

South Dakota

Owen is obsessed with bull riding.  He found a PBR event in South Dakota that was letting fans in despite Covid19 and he and Kylee planned a roadtrip.  They asked Davis if he wanted to go, but he didn't really want to go, so the little sisters got to go along.  It was quick, they left on Thursday night around 10pm and got home tonight around 8:30.   They had a lot of fun, and drove a ton.  I am pretty jealous, especially of a park that they went to called Falls Park.  They went at night and saw fireflies.  They saw Mt Rushmore, now all my kids have been to Mt Rushmore, and I still haven't seen it.  They went to a zoo, and an aquarium.  They visited a couple museums and swam at the hotel.  Gator didn't want to go to the rodeo, so she stayed at the hotel and had some quiet time.  It sounds like they had so much fun.  I am glad that Gator got to go on a cool vacation this summer.  I think it was a neat thing for them to do together before Owen moves in January.

Evening ride

I worked all day, but after I got off, Davis and I had planned to go up and cook tin foil dinners and do a little riding on his 4 wheeler.  It is fun to have one on one time with my kids, it doesn't happen very often with schedules, but I love it when it works out.  He even missed out on a camping trip with his friends to keep these plans with me.  Owen and Gator are in South Dakota, I'll post those pictures when they get home, from the pictures I'm getting it looks like they are having tons of fun.
I actually don't even know if I ever posted that Davis bought a 4 wheeler.  He came to me and said he wanted a 4 wheeler, so I said okay, get a job.  Well, he did.  And he saved and bought himself this 4 wheeler.  He has been on a couple camping trips with friends and done a lot of riding.  It actually broke tonight, so now he is learning how to do some repairs, and he's also learning that it is expensive, but he is loving his 4 wheeler, and I think it is a great lesson for him.

Some Random

Lots of Lagoon and friends.  Lagoon hasn't been very crowded lately.  I know it probably isn't the smartest thing to do right now, but it's open, so we will go.
High School has been approved to slowly and without expectations start football again.  I will be so upset if football season is cancelled, but I have to accept that it very may well not happen.  So I will enjoy what we get.  It is Davis's senior season, and we will be so heartbroken if Covid takes this away too.
100 degree days in the pool.
Owen is unexpectedly but happily coaching for Fremont again.  ISU made the decision to move his signing group to January.  With Covid and so much uncertainty, it isn't even known yet if there will be a college season this fall.  I know this is the worst news that Owen could have gotten and he is so heartbroken to not be playing right now.  He worked so hard to rehab his knee and the only thing that has gotten him through this rough year and a half was knowing he'd be playing football.  Along comes Covid and turns the world upside down.  My heart is breaking for my kids.
Not knowing how the season will be, I'm going to enjoy every little bit that I can of watching Davis play for right now.
I don't know what a Vsco Girl is, but Gator and Sydney had fun dressing up and going out as Vsco Girls.
Davis has been picking up odd and end jobs along with his other job.  This one was absolutely disgusting, but he got paid nearly $300 for the day, so that helped.  A truck broke down with 40,000 lbs of apples loaded.  Well, that sat for 10 days in 90+ degree July heat.  His friend and him had to clean out the trailer at the dump.  As a joke, the lady that paid them after had bought them some applejuice.  Davis was just happy for the cold drink, and the paycheck.
