I remember a couple moths complaining because we were in a lull with our activities and I was bored. Well, that boredom is no longer. Tonight Davis had a game. The sophomores played at 3:30, I watched them win that game, then I ran Gator to volleyball and back to watch Davis play JV. After that game, I went back to pick up Gator. I then went back to Fremont to watch the Varsity game, but Davis was starving so he asked if I'd go get him something to eat. So I left again, but couldn't find my wallet, I finally did, and made it back to Fremont for half time. The kids got a snack and we finished watching basketball. After all that we were all starving and exhausted. I love this busy life, I love watching my kids do what they like. They have been blessed with some pretty awesome talents.

Holiday night
Everyone was gone tonight, and Gator and I aren't just going to sit around and be the only ones home. I would've had to do laundry or make dinner or something boring like that. West Haven had their lighting ceremony tonight, so we went over to that and went on a hayride and saw Santa come in on a firetruck. One of my students found us there, her mom works at Gators school, so we run into them a lot out and about. After the holiday evening, I did finally go home and got dinner made, and still before anyone else got home. No one even knew I wasn't home doing all my chores.

Lucked out
Owen seems to always be the one that gets lucky and gets to go to fun football games. I remember the day he texted me from school saying he was leaving school and heading to Vegas because he had a ticket given to him for the Bowl game. And Carrie & Wayne decided that it was too cold tonight for a football game, so they gave all 4 tickets to Owen. Everyone knows that football is this kids life.

The Grinch
I've never been a Black Friday shopper, so this morning I tried something else. My neighbors have a thing in their family they call White Friday, they all go to the temple. My kids were all gone this morning since they spent the night with cousins, but I went on my own. It would be a fun thing to do with family, but I didn't get it planned in time. Maybe next year.
Now that we've celebrated Thanksgiving, we can move onto all things Christmas. I listen to my Christmas music on the way home from trick or treating, but I have a house full of scrooges that don't like it until after Thanksgiving. But now I have a green light to listen to Christmas music and watch Christmas movies. Today we celebrated Bethany's birthday by going to see The Grinch. It was a pretty cute movie. Definitely different than the Jim Carrey version, but that happens over time and with the more versions they make of a movie. But I still liked it.

Thanksgiving
We had Thanksgiving in Kaysville. The boys were all planning their black Friday shopping trip, Davis was watching the forecast waiting for the snow to start falling, Owen was watching football, and Gator was bouncing all around the house playing with cousins. So it was an awesome Thanksgiving, spent just like I always remember. And now my house is quiet because the boys stayed in Kaysville with Chris and Gator went home with Krissy. I always spent the night with cousins when I was little too. We would watch Christmas movies and eat leftovers. I love memories of Thanksgiving.

Christmas Tree Jubilee
The school district has a fund raiser every year and I say I'm going to go, but I never have. So this year, I went. Gator, Davis, and Kennedy went with me. The trees were beautiful, I'm so glad I finally went. And I made Davis realize, 15 years old isn't too old to have a picture with Santa.
Last meal
None of us had school/work today so we went out to lunch. I told the kids that I wasn't going to feed them again until Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. The Pie pizza is the perfect place to go to fill up. That stuff sits like a rock in your stomach, but it is so tasty!

New Season
I have to rant about Davis for a minute. I hate hate hate to admit it, but Davis does seem to sometimes get the "middle child" shaft. The past few months have been a little hard on him with Owen leaving then coming home and helping him find a job and figure out college and helping him with his anxiety and stuff. And Gator is the only girl and the youngest so she is pretty demanding of the attention, but Davis is quiet and he'll just let himself go unnoticed and it's easy for him to just kinda hide and do things on his own. I actually love that quality, but I hate it at the same time. Davis is an awesome kid and he deserves some kudos right now. He finished up a great football season, sticking with it and working his hardest even when he didn't quite get the recognition he should have. Dressing varsity was an awesome thing, but it was also so hard to have to stand on the sidelines all game every game and watch. He wanted to be out there so bad. He was a main contributor to his sophomore team though. At midterm, his grades were D's and F's. So unlike Davis. He buckled down and look at this report card for 1st term. It is amazing!! And now he has just made the basketball team. Football is a long season, but I think basketball is more of a commitment. And it is also harder to make. No one gets cut from football and it takes a ton of kids to get through a football season. Basketball a large amount gets cut and of a student boy over 2000 kids, only 20 something make the basketball team. And I have to say it, when you weren't blessed with the height that your older brother was, it isn't so obvious that you can kick butt at basketball. So we are going from one tough season to another with Davis and he is ready for the challenge. I'm not so sure Joey is though, he misses Davis all day long.
