FREE

Free entertainment is awesome.  We played all day on Saturday and didn't spend a dime.  Every summer Weber County Parks offer free family activities through a program called RAMP on Saturday's in June, July and August.  Today we chose to go swimming at the Lorin Farr pool.  Owen's all time favorite movie (The Sandlot) was partly filmed at this pool, and we have never been.  We kept Lu over night and she joined us swimming. 

After swimming, we came home to get cleaned up then we went over to the park for West Haven Days.  We went to the rodeo, then fireworks, then we stayed for most of Frozen.  It was a busy couple of days and everyone, but Owen was ready to head for home and bed. 

 

 Davis participated in a capture the chicken event.  Good thing he didn't catch one, cause I have no clue what we would've done with it if he had. 

 

 This is one of my students.  She was also in our ward for a while until our wards were split, so my boys know her well.  She is such a sweet heart and she can really rock those barrels.  Horses are her therapy, and she is amazing. 

 

Summer fun continues

With Grace going to college next month, we wanted to take advantage of her awesome employee discount at the trampoline park before she quit. 

 Lu brought her long board over to the house, and now Gator has something new on her list of things she's saving her money for.  She loved it!

 We still got a good fire going to cook dinner despite the huge rain storm in the morning. 

 Smores are getting so much bigger than they used to be.  My kids try rolos and reeses and oreos.  I'm still not a huge fan, I will just go for the candy and graham no mallows for me please. 

 Some glow in the dark bowling.  I said it last time, but I forgot to look for one, but we need a glow in the dark ball to go along with our game. 

It was 12:30 before we got our poker game started, and I only lasted 30 minutes, but the rest of them played till about 2:00 before they crashed. 

 

Flash Flood

As I was fixing breakfast this morning, a beautiful storm began brewing and soon the thunder was clashing and the rain was pouring down.  I left those eggs right on the stove and grabbed the kids and out we went to play in the rain.  I honestly don't think I have ever seen the rain come down like it was this morning.  It didn't last very long, but it left behind a few good puddles to splash in and then we went back in to finish that breakfast and make some hot chocolate to go along with it. 

Hogle Zoo

Salt Lake was our destination again today.  We spent the day at the zoo.  Mom and Colin have a season pass and we tagged along with them.  We love the zoo, yes, even me who doesn't like animals enjoys a day at the zoo.  I think it is more a day spent with my family, but the animals are fun to look at. 

 Gator loves the zebras, she is so glad they are back in the new exhibit. 

 Davis caught the lions playing.  Well, it looked to me they were fighting, but I guess this is how they play.  I know my boys would consider their fighting play as well if I let them.  I suppose it is just a difference of opinions. 

 Again more siblings playing/fighting.  I think the one in the water was just trying to pull the other one in.

 There is now a splash pad at the zoo.  Today was the perfect day to walk around the zoo, because it was cool and overcast the whole day.  But that wasn't really the perfect day to get wet, but if there is water involved not much can stop Ally from jumping in. 

 All day long, Davis was begging to go in the reptile house.  I know I could've just used these little snakes and lizards as babysitters and left Davis there all day and came back hours later and Davis would still have been there happily visiting with his little friends. 

 Pre bird show, pre me getting smacked across the face by a golden eagle as he flew from one side of the theater to the other. 

 This gorilla is Husani, and he was not a happy gorilla today.  He grabbed his barrel and started tapping on it and the zoo worker informed us this was his way of saying "back off".  I guess he was getting agitated, but we didn't get much time to back away from the glass before he threw that barrel and came running at the glass yelling and pounding on it.  That was freaky and got our hearts pounding.  The workers decided it was time for some outside play after that and moved him outside.  We were told that the gorilla next to him teases him and they don't like each other and I guess he had enough of Tino (the other gorilla) and that was his reaction.  Now that is more like siblings, I see my boys teasing and reacting in such a manner every day.  They just don't have the protection of glass in between them. 

 Still my favorite part of the zoo.  I love the polar bear and seals.
