New Toy

Owen brought home a new toy.  It is an Oculus.  It is a virtual reality video game.  I never have played video games much, but this is fun.  We have a game called Beat Saber and I think that one is great fun.  I haven't been caught playing it when the kids aren't home yet, but if I figure out how to work it on my own, I just might play when they are all out on the weekend.

Tulip Festival and Hogle Zoo

This weekend was so much fun.  I spent the whole weekend with my kids and I'm sad that it is Sunday evening and I should be doing homework, but instead, I am looking at pictures and thinking about the last couple of days.  I've always wanted to go to the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point, and I was going to go last spring, but then Covid canceled it.  So this year, I wasn't going to miss it.  I love pretty gardens and yards, I just am not a fan of gardening.  But I could look at pretty gardens all day long.  The tulips were beautiful.  Thanksgiving Point is an awesome place to go visit, I loved the lights at Christmas time, and now the tulips, I'm thinking someday I want to volunteer at Thanksgiving Point.  If I volunteer, I get in free to all the cool stuff.

We also went to the zoo this weekend.  It is Owens spring break and I pinned him down for some fun.  He is actually home for a few weeks.  He will take his finals at home, and then he has to be back on June 7th for football.  But if he and Kylee find an apartment before that, he will go ahead and move back to Pocatello and find a part-time job.  I wanted to go to the zoo because they got a new polar bear and a baby gorilla, plus I just really like the zoo, and ultimately because I just really love spending time with my family no matter what we are doing.
I also planned a family dinner for tonight.  I don't know why, but every single time I plan one it is cold and windy.  It was the same tonight as a storm is moving in for tomorrow.  The kids still had fun playing though and I love visiting.  It was just really cold, so we didn't stay too long.  Long enough to plan a camping trip for next month.  Summer break is coming!

Bad Genes

A couple of months ago Davis got glasses.  He has his injured eye and we can't really fix his vision in that eye, but his right eye was getting tired and he had to get a small prescription.  Gator started complaining that she couldn't see the board at school, and I apologized that she too inherited my bad genes.  I took her to the eye doctor and we ordered a pair of glasses for her.  I have been having some problems with extreme burning and leaking eyes and just discomfort.  I haven't been able to wear my contacts for over a year, and I needed a new prescription before I could order a new pair of glasses.  I got some bad kinda scary news at the eye doctor today.  He diagnosed me with Glaucoma.  I didn't know how to respond, I was just a  little bit in shock.  Dr. Richards could tell and he was pretty positive that with this early detection, routine exams, and eye drops for the rest of my life I should be able to keep the progression of vision loss at bay for a while.  But knowing my Great Grandma and my Grandpa Jeppson went blind from Glaucoma terrifies me.  I've always had problems with my eyes, but I've actually always thought if I HAD to pick, I would rather be deaf than blind.  I don't ever want to not be able to see.  I picked up my eye drops and said a prayer and I will have faith that my blindness won't progress.  One good sign is that my prescription actually didn't change at all in the last couple of years, so I am counting that as a win.

She's Brave

Carrie was brave last night and hosted a cousin sleepover.  The kids had a great time, and Carrie said it was amazingly mellow.  Gator was looking forward to this all week!  I stayed for a minute, but I've stressed myself into a massive head cold, and I had to go home and go to bed.  The next 3 months will be a bit busy with two jobs, an extra class this semester, a wedding, and moving possibly twice, but they are all good changes, I am just a worrier.  Thank you Carrie for the fun, the mess, and the memories!

Happy 3rd Birthday Joey

First of all, with last week being spring break I had to share the one and only picture that I got of Davis.  He went to St George with some friends and he sent me this one dumb picture.
Joey will be 3 tomorrow, but I have to work so tonight Gator took him to the pet store and let him pick out a new toy and some treats.  We celebrated by doing his favorite thing, going for a ride to the park, and paying ALL attention to him for over an hour.

Sick of the last couple minutes

Besides the very first game of the season, we should've won the rest of the season.  We were ahead and winning until the final seconds of the game and then we lose.  I am so sick of the same ending.  ISU was at Weber today, and the 3 games that were so close were all top ranked teams.  It would've been so cool to win.  The games are still fun, but this was it until fall.  I hope the fall season goes more smooth for Owen, it definitely was a rocky start.

The Rush

We've been laying low all spring break, just hanging out at home.  Gator put her crocheting on Instagram and now she has a lot of orders.  But today I wanted to do something so we called up the cousins and went to The Rush.   Davis County had spring break last week, but luckily they do home school on Fridays.  Thanks guys for taking a couple hour break from school to hang out with us for the afternoon!

"Zoo"

We were in town today, and not really thinking of it being Easter and Sunday, everything was closed.   In addition to it being Easter Sunday, we woke up and Pocatello had no power, so we had a late start.  After the zoo, we sent Kylee on her way home so she could see her family on Easter, and got a few groceries for Owen.  Gator made a cute Easter craft, and then we got some dinner (pizza of course) and Owen went back to his dorm for bed.  It was a fun weekend.  Still strange to me that I have to get a hotel to hang out with Owen for the weekend, but we are all figuring out how to make it work still.

We were going to go wedding shopping, but nothing was open.  We ended up walking around the zoo.  I'm sorry Pocatello, but you have a lot of work to do at your zoo.  I enjoyed the day because of who I was with, but the zoo was actually pretty awful.

Game Day!

Owen was busy today until game time, so Gator and I slept in, then she went swimming, after we went and got some lunch, and drove up to the Pocatello temple to check on the progress.  I'm glad we had time to relax before the game because the game took years off my life.  It was another close game, and we just about lost in the last seconds again, just like the other games, but they won this one!  I honestly can't say what happened, because I was out in the hall trying to catch my breath and relax a little.

After the game, we went and got some dinner.  Owen knows of a yummy pizza place (of course he knows the pizza places).  I agree with him, even though I didn't have pizza, I had pasta and it was so so good.  Mackenzie River is a good restaurant.  Gator and I came back to the hotel after dinner, and Owen & Kylee went and hung out.  Sharing is not always fun.
