A mothers birthday

Yes, it was my birthday today, and a crazy one at that. But my kids are so sweet. I woke up and they had done this to my room.

On Thursday's I go into the school to tutor Davis' class. So I walked into the classroom and they all shouted Happy Birthday. He had told them, it was my birthday. And they thought that was great. I left the school and took Owen to the doctor for an Xray. He had gone ice skating for an AR party yesterday, it was his first time ice skating and though he had a blast he had fallen pretty hard on his wrist. The doctor said the Xrays initially looked good, but with the swelling and bruising and his age a break can "hide" so he put him in a splint and sling for a week and then he will redo the Xrays. Ya try telling a 9 year old they have to keep their arm still for a week. The sling lasted about 2 minutes, just long enough for us to leave the doctor actually. I am sure he will be sore for a couple of days and then he will be fine.

Then we were off back to the school. I was in charge of a first grade "Penguin Party". (Gotta love being a room mother) So for a few hours I was in the gym with over 100 first graders. They had a great time, and Ally just pals around with Davis and his friends. She thinks she is much older than her 2 years.

I wanted to stop at this point, but the show must go on. The boys had training after school. Owen took advantage of his injury, and the sling came in handy for him to get out of training. So Davis had some nice one on one time at the gym. He loves the attention. I think sometimes he feels the "middle child syndrome". We grabbed a quick dinner than it was time for basketball practice. Whew, now we are home, the kids are in bed and I am upstairs enjoying my birthday banner and balloons, while planning a lesson for Sunday, a skit for scouts and Davis' birthday party for next week. Crazy day, but I wouldn't change it for anything. I love being a mom!

My laundry has quadrupled!

Since having a little girl, my laundry has been out of control. She is nuts!! Ally changes her clothes at least three or more times an hour. She is in and out of her closet and the boys closets all day. Usually she puts on her swimsuit, but today she chose this lovely outfit. And yes, she picks the bows out and everything. And don't you dare try to change her, she will let you know who the boss it!

I owed them

The kids didn't have school today and I felt I owed the girls and my kids a fun day together since the last time we tried Ally got hurt and the day didn't turn out so fun. They wanted to go to the Planetarium again. So we got on the Frontrunner again for another attmept. Today was a much better day, the sun was shining, no injuries, or crowds. Although I don't know if I would recommend the movie we watched. It was "Under the Sea" in 3d, and it was interesting but just pretty slow and boring. It definitely did not hold Graces attention. She joined Ally in naptime. We had to wake her up at the end, I don't think she would have been too happy with us if we just left her there. Thanks guys for a fun day.

St. George

We spent the weekend in St. George. Today we had a funeral to go to, so we spent Sunday playing and having a little bit of a "vacation" while we were down for the funeral. The kids had fun playing in the pool, and the hotel we stayed in had a playground. So even though we didn't venture too far from our hotel, we still had a fun time together. Sunday was so nice and warm, we were out walking in short sleeves to get some lunch, but oh it was cold today. A storm blew in over night and it brought wind and cold rain. Like I said we went down there for a funeral. Colins (my step dad) mom passed away. She was a very quiet, special, poised lady. I had only met her a few times, so I enjoyed her service and felt like I got to know her a little better. And it was also fun to be with my family. It was a simple weekend, but that is what we needed. Some time with just us.

Lotion....anyone!

Having a 4 level home is a problem with Ally. She spends more time being lost than found. Well, at least lost to us. She is fine and usually happy as can be making a mess somewhere. Today I was upstairs getting ready for the day, and I realized I hadn't seen her for awhile. I heard her singing in the downstairs bathroom. But the door was locked and she was not letting me in. So I found something to unlock the door with and there was Ally happy and singing, I guess her skin felt a bit dry!!

Please excuse the dirty bathroom. This is the one the boys use and I try to keep up with their mess, but I am usually unsuccessful at it.

Rude Awakening

Aah time to get back to real life. It has been a very slow start to the new year. I feel as if I haven't seen or talked to anyone in 2 weeks. I haven't had to put gas in my car since before Christmas. Considering I only get 10mph that is pretty bad. My kids are now back in school, back to training, back to basketball, scouts and homework. I got a little mixed up with my sleep. I stayed up way too late and let the kids take care of themselves in the morning (isn't it sad that 7:00 seems like sleeping in around here)!! Yesterday Owen had to wake me up to help them get ready for school. So it was a nice break from real life, but no more being a couch potatoe!

Back to the pool

When summer is over, my kids miss swimming so much. Today was a day that we had nothing planned and I knew I didn't want to just stay home and listen to the kids fight after not getting enough sleep last night, so we went swimming. They had a blast!

New Years Eve

The kids and I had a party last night to welcome 2010. We had lots of fun things planned to do together.
First we played a game.

And of course we had lots of snacks!

We had a Wii bowling tournament. Someday I will win someone in this game.

I was too big of a chicken to light fireworks by myself, but that is okay because the kids were happy with sparklers and pop it's.

Ally had gone to bed by this time of the night, and the rest of us were tired also. So we decided to cut the night short and welcome 2010 at 10:00 with confetti and streamers.
