What we've been doing

I wrote a post on Wednesday, but I feel so behind in my journaling. Nothing big and thrilling, just some summer fun. Summer is a great time, and my kids like to fill every minute of it. And I mean every minute. If they sit still for more than 30 seconds, it's "mom take us here," "mom can so and so come over," "mom where are we going," "mom what can we do," "mom I am bored (or hungry, I hear that all day long too)". Thursday, Davis and I went to camp Kiesel with the boy scouts in our ward. They all had a blast shooting guns, and arrows, and boating, and learning all sorts of fun stuff. I enjoyed this scout activity as well, because I didn't have to plan a thing. That was nice!
My boys (and yes me too) are enjoying a little bit of new freedom. I feel they are getting old enough, and I trust them to go for outings with their friends. They've walked up to the store and bought snowcones, and they walk to the fish pond by our old house and fish for a couple of hours. They love to fish. Krissy and I joined them last night, and there was no luck in the way of fish, but Davis did catch a gator. Ha ha, sorry I couldn't resist. Although she wasn't too happy about being caught by a hook (right there on the side of her head).

Today they had some friends over and put together a little waterpark in the back yard. They started at the pool, then went to the water slide, then ran to the slip n slide, and ended on the trampoline (with a sprinkler underneath) to do a trick. We are in for a little set back weather wise, but as soon as it warms up again, I am sure they would love to have more visitors to their back yard park.

And lastly I had to get a new phone (dang). I was using the restroom at Lagoon of all places and my phone dropped out of my pocket and.... plop right in the toilet. I flushed and when it didn't go down, I figured I better hold my breath and retrieve the phone. Of course the phone was toast, and I had to get a new one. The boys have been loving playing with the camera on it. I am greeted daily with beautiful photos of them that they have taken for me. Whew! There you have it. I'm glad tomorrow is Sunday. But we will be off and running again on Monday.

More cousins, more dinosaurs, more fun!

Thanks to everyone for joining us today at the dinosaur park. I love that we are so close to our family, and that my kids get to grow up with their cousins. The older the kids are, the better they are at avoiding me with my camera. They have had years of me following them around, and now they just split as soon as we get to where we are going. Although I did manage to get one picture with Owen, Chris, & Collin before they ran off. Summer...so far so good! Tomorrow is day camp with the boy scouts though, so I may be singing a different tune after tomorrow.

A funny one

I don't know why, but Davis loves to ride the lawn mower. I guess going 4 mph is just thrilling to him. Anyway, the seat has a sensor in it that shuts off the mower if there is not enough weight in the back. He has to lean so far forward to reach the pedal that the mower always shut off. Anyway he finally figured out a way (and it was a process for him believe me) to be able to ride it. He throws Ally on the back and off they go around the yard at a blinding speed. Crazy thing is that they think it is a blast (of couse the blade is off, or I could get my lawn mowed every day). And what is better is look at these two. I guess Ally thought it would storm on her in her shorts and tank top, because she insisted on wearing her jacket and hood. And Davis is even better in his mismatched pj's with his black church socks and flip flops. I had to post this picture though, just for me to remember these two crazy kids!

Always a good time!!

Picnics & Movies

Lunch outside with cousins!
And then a movie outside in the evening. Dave & Sheila's neighborhood has a neighborhood movie night, and the showing tonight was Mary Poppins. It didn't hold the kids' attention very long. Ally & Dallin lasted a whole 5 minutes. But it was fun anyway, and the kids enjoyed the popcorn, icecream & hot dogs. Oh boy what a mix!

Here we are again...

We went swimming today at lagoon. Like last year, the beginning of June is a bit chilly, and if it is not over 90 degrees outside you freeze in Lagoons water. And that was the case today. Although it didn't phase the boys, Ally turned on her girl attitude (according to Davis) and didn't get much swimming done. It was the end of an era this year. Lagoon added a new ride, which is a great ride, but it took some space out of Lagoon-a-beach. And our "spot" was replaced with the tube rental. We were all so sad, we've sat in the same place every summer, and missed our spot in the fall when it sat empty when the pool was closed. I hate change! But we will survive and have a fun summer in our new "spot".

Last stop

Our little vacation ended today. We made a stop at Kennecott just because I haven't even ever been there. And it was pretty cool. Not a whole lot to do, but still pretty cool to see it. The boys loved all the info. they learned from a movie, but I couldn't watch the movie with Ally so we just wandered. It was a fabulous weekend!!

Thanksgiving Point

Bright and early my kids were up bouncing off the walls ready to go to the dinosaur museum. I couldn't keep them entertained any longer at the hotel, so with 1.5 hours to opening we took off. Only thing is our hotel is only 1o minutes away. So that gave me plenty of time to snap some photos of my kids. They smiled great cause they were so excited!

It was great because we were there right at opening and had the place to ourselves for a couple of hours. The kids were able to do all the hands on things without crowds. The boys had read that this museum was the only one with a baby mammoth on display, so we spent some time looking for that. Davis's favorite was the sand and water table. They thought it was great fun to build dams, then let the lakes break through and kill all the dinosaurs. Owen loved the big magnetic puzzle board. Him and I spent awhile putting together the dinosaurs. When it got more crowded they went through everything again, and were quite bummed that kids had ruined all their work on the dams, and puzzles. Sorry guys that is what happens.

Ally wasn't so sure of the place. She got pretty nervous. Right before we left, she ran up to what scared her the most and asked me to take her picture. She was SO proud of herself.
We also visited farm country while we were out there. It wasn't too big of a hit with the boys. They thought it was pretty "little kidish". Luckily for Ally the pony rides and wagon rides were no where near the wild turkey's because once Owen got a look at those ugly things he was done with the place. But he stuck it out for his sister.

We have had a fabulous time together. I am so glad that we took this little trip!

Little getaway

My kids and I packed up the car today and headed out! We have a summer full of little trips planned, and today began our first outing. I got a hotel room in Salt Lake (that alone is a vacation to my kids!) and we are going to Thanksgiving Point tomorrow. They have always wanted to go to the Dinosaur Museum there, and so I thought this would be a fun way to do it. So we got to the hotel today and of course the first thing they wanted to do was go for a swim. They splashed around for a while then we got dressed and walked to get some dinner. So far our "vacation" is fun and we are having a great time together!!

Borrowed Fun

Sheila brought her waterslide over the other night, but with all the rain we weren't able to dry it out and put it away, so it just so happens the sun was out today (although still not very warm) and my boys took the chance to blow up the slide again AND get the water out. Water is the main ingredient to summer for my kids and they had a great time today borrowing grammey's slide. I hope she doesn't plan on getting it back anytime soon. We have lots of plans to invite over friends and cousins to play!
