Football & Hiking

Owen has a football camp in Layton yesterday, today, and tomorrow.  He is really excited about this one, over 140 college coaches are there and he had a handful come up to him yesterday and talk to him.  He has always wanted to play college football, and it is so crazy and exciting that he is at this point, and also a little sad for me, but I'm so excited for him.  Seeing him back in his pads playing football was so much fun last night.  I love watching my kids find what is them and what they really love.  For Owen, that is football.
Davis, Gator, and I went hiking yesterday while Owen was at football.  I wanted to go on a trail called Wheeler Creek up by Pineview and Davis wanted to go up to Basin and go on a trail called Green Pond ( speaking of things they love, Davis is missing skiing so bad, so he wanted to go up to Basin just to be up there again).   We couldn't decide which one to do, so we did both.  Both were beautiful, not hard hikes.  Although Davis's trail had a ton more bugs, and less shade, so I told him mine was better.  We stopped at the river and came between an intense waterfight between brothers.  Davis and Gator joined in for a little bit, I wasn't in the waterfight, but I still got wet, the cute little brother made it up to me though by squirting off my dirty feet so I could put my socks and shoes back on.

Wet rats

Last night was a rare perfect night at Lagoon, where you never want to leave because that kind of night will never happen again.  It was nice and cool (but that didn't stop the kids from going on the water rides over and over) and no crowds at all.

B-Dubs & swimming in the rain

Owen and Davis planned a little NBA finals party at Buffalo Wild Wings.  They think it is great to go get some wings and watch the game.  I'm sure by the end of the evening, the server is ready to kick them out, but from what I hear they provide quite an entertaining evening.  They were all in tears last night and grabbing for which ever drink was closest as they had a blazing wing challenge.  I got a couple pictures sent to me, none of the sweat and tear filled challenge, they took video of eachother, but I'm happy they thought of me and sent me a picture of their evening fun.  Although, I think one of the pictures was poking fun of me, just a little.  I admit, I'm a dork and like to celebrate little dumb holidays, but Owen loved the fact that he knew it was "no meat day" yesterday and thought it was hilarious he was celebrating at a Wings restaurant.  My boys could never go without meat.
While they were crying and sweating at B-Dubs, Gator and I went with Rachelle to Cherry Hill.  The sun was out all day long even though rain was in the forecast.  It wasn't terribly hot, but we decided to swim anyway.  As we drove toward Cherry Hill, the sun disappeared and a dark cloud blew over and little rain drops started to fall from the cloud.  But, no way we were going to be able to tell the kids we weren't swimming.  It continued to rain and was only about 65 degrees, but we had the place to ourselves and I don't think the kids even noticed it was raining and cold.

Cupcake Lovers Day

I had to let Gator celebrate this holiday.  She LOVES cupcakes, and is always asking to make them.  Her favorite thing to watch on Netflix over and over until we have it memorized is Cupcake Wars.   One day, she may be a judge on that show.

Fun afternoon

Today was a great day.  We didn't have anywhere to be, we didn't care what time it was, or about anything other then cooling off and making memories.  Andrea and Krissy along with their kids joined us at the river to float and play.
And this shows how much I love these kids.  Davis, after a million reminders, lost his shoes.  Well, a guy brought back one of the sandals.  Davis freaked out cause he didn't have shoes.  So I gave him mine and found a kids flip flop in the bushes.  Between his and this lost shoe I had 2 left shoes, so I wore one on my left and one on my right.  My feet were killing me by the time we were done, but that is okay, we had a ton of fun.

Rain didn't get us down

So far the summer has been so busy with sports.  There isn't classes, but Owen is still out at Fremont every day.  Gator had a basketball camp last week, and Davis has one this week.  Owen has to help at the camp, because he's on the team, and he also has 4 or 5 football camps this month.  This afternoon he had one for Utah State.  Dave took him for me, so we were at Stewarts waiting for him to get done.  Krissy and her kids came over with a slip n slide.  The girls were ready to cool down from the 98 degrees that it was today, but as soon as they got the slide out a dark cloud blew over us.  Eh, oh well.  They still played on the slip n slide for awhile, then when it was raining harder, we went for a walk in the rain.  Oh how I LOVE thunder storms.  And Ally & I found some great puddle jumping companions in Krissy's girls.

Sunday afternoons

Today after church, it was so hot in the house, we retreated to the backyard for some shade.  It felt much better with a little breeze blowing then it did in the million degree house.  I made some sandwiches for lunch, Gator got a new wading pool at Walmart yesterday, and the boys picked out a couple board games so we were set for the afternoon.  After one game, the boys dipped their feet in the pool and it went all went down from there.  They all played for over an hour in that little pool.  It was a perfect Sunday afternoon!

Car Show

Last year we happened upon this great car show that we really enjoyed, so this year, I made sure to get it on my calendar.  There were over 400 entries, it took quite a while to walk around and see all of them.  We were hot and sweaty and ready for some big cold snowcones.

It's hot hot hot

Oh wow, summer sure showed up this week.  It is HOT, and I know this is only the beginning of June.  I am sure to melt this summer.  Thank goodness for Lagoon A Beach, it will help us make it through the summer.  Gator wore us all out.  She would swim all day and into the night if it were her choice, but me and the boys were exhausted and a little burned, but now looking at these pictures, I want to go back in the cold water.
