Weber County Fair

The fair was back this year.  Covid shut everything down last year, but the majority of places and events are back on this year, the demolition derby included.  I still can't pinpoint why I like the demolition derby so much, I guess it's just my guilty pleasure.  I honestly think it is because I get to hangout with my kids, and that is always my favorite thing to do.  And second to hanging out with my kids has got to be all the delicious fair food that is so bad for you that it's good the fair is only once a year.

A small accident

Jess likes to take Gator school shopping, and I am so grateful for such kind people that look out for my kids.  Jess took her today, and was dropping her off at home and forgot to put her car in park, so when she got out to come say hi to me it rolled through Shannon's garage door.  Oh shoot, I didn't even know what to do.  Shannon is amazing, and she took the news really well when I called her.  Jess will file a claim with her insurance company, and it will all be fixed.  Eventually.  Just like with everything else in the world, Covid is making construction companies very far behind.  So the new door will not be installed for 6-8 weeks.  I'm just considering myself lucky that I'm not kicked out on the streets!

We love the temple

Rachelle called me on Sunday and said that the plans we had made for Tuesday would have to change.  Blake had been invited to the temple and Gator was able to go along in the group. It is nearly impossible to make an appointment for baptisms and Gator misses it so much.  Since she was going on Tuesday, I hurried and got on for me to make an appointment for an endowment session.  I got the last one for today.  What a great week, getting to go to the temple twice and another appointment for next week for Gator.  I wish the temples would open back up to full capacity, but we will keep checking every day for appointments to get to go.

My favorite middle child

August 12th is mine and Davis' day.  National Middle Child Day.  Davis is my favorite middle child, and I am pretty sure I am my parents favorite middle child as well.  Davis met me for a treat today after he got off work and on my way to work.

Lagoon

Kin has a season pass to Lagoon, so Davis bought himself one and they went with Blake and Gator tonight.  I'm okay not having a Lagoon pass, but I know I will miss it come Frightmares.  It's coming, fall will be here soon and I love fall SO much!
Davis had a full car, so he put Gator and Blake on the train to get home.  They were totally fine with that, until Blake got off in Layton and Gator had to ride for two more stops alone that is.
Once in awhile, Davis will send me a picture of something he is doing.  Him and Kin went to the Alan Jackson concert.  He even thought to call Gator during one of her favorite songs, so she could hear it.

Cherry Hill

For the past 20+ years, we've had season passes to Lagoon.  We've spent our summers at Lagoon a Beach, but this year we switched to Cherry Hill.  Gator still has a Lagoon pass, but I didn't buy one for me.  We've had fun at Cherry Hill with all our cousins.

A weekend with the dogs

Gator asked Davis if she could have Joey stay with us this weekend.  She loves you Davis, but she cries every day because she misses Joey so much.  Karma was out of town this weekend as well, so she had Cooper too.  Gators dream weekend.  Friday we took Joey to a park.  I had to work on Saturday, but after I got off we took the dogs swimming, and for a treat.  They were pretty dirty, so we tried out the pet bath in the parking lot of a gas station.  What a great invention.  All clean and smelling good, we took the dogs to Roy Days to walk around and go to the fireworks.  Joey is such a chill dog, that nothing bothers him, Cooper on the other hand, did not enjoy the noise at all and I had to cover him in a blanket while holding him and rocking him like a baby.   Not my finest moment, but I wanted to stay and watch the fireworks.

Movies

When Rachelle heard we hadn't seen "Once I Was a Beehive" yet, she told us to watch it right away and then we would go see the sequel "Once I Was Engaged".   I just don't watch a ton of movies, but I did enjoy both of these movies.  I found "Once I Was a Beehive" funnier than Gator did, she just thought I was really weird when I started singing along to the camp songs.

Formals

I swiped these off of Kylee's Facebook.  I love these formal pictures they had taken.  They were scheduled for the Saturday after the wedding, but Garth Brooks came to Salt Lake, and Owen wasn't going to be anywhere else but at that concert.  So their first compromise of married life, and the pictures were rescheduled to Sunday instead.  They turned out beautiful.

It's been stormy

My favorite part of the summer weather is summer thunderstorms.  We've been in a stormy pattern for the last week or so, but it's supposed to end today which I'm sad about.  They've been awesome.  The thunder and lightning have lit up the sky.  I've gone for lots of walks outside, I'm so glad Gator will join me on my rainy walks.
