No puppies for Willow

I've been waiting for Willow to be old enough to get spayed since we got her.  I never wanted to deal with puppies or her being in heat, so even though everyone thinks I'm dumb for not breeding her.  Her age coincided with a "Mothers Day" special at the vet, so I got in on the last day of May and got a better price.  She did great during the surgery and came walking out like nothing happened.  Although she fell asleep instantly in the car again and pretty much slept the rest of the day.  I have to say that part of it has been kinda nice.  

Monticello Temple

 Gator and I went to the Monticello temple last Saturday.  I planned the trip to be quick.  I knew it was Memorial Day weekend, and we would have to drive through Moab to get to Monticello so I didn't plan for much knowing it would be crowded.  I would like to take a trip down another time though because it is beautiful down there.  I can't believe I've lived in Utah basically my whole life and I've never seen so much of Utah still.  We left Saturday and drove straight to the temple, I was making a mental list of a couple of places that we passed that I did want to stop on the way home.  The temple was tiny, but beautiful.  I like seeing how different all the temples are and how they do things.  The Monticello temple was a much more personal experience than other larger temple we've been to so far.  We were early for our time, but they got Gator in with a small group and it worked out perfect.  We found the motel and changed then drove to Four Corners Monument.  Not a huge deal, but it was still really cool.  So in that time we were in New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, and Utah.  Probably somewhere we'll never make it again, so I'm glad we went.  It was a little stressful because we were running low on gas and cell phone battery, but we made it to Monticello and got some pizza for dinner and relaxed at the motel.  Sunday morning we woke up and headed home.  We drove by a cool rock called Church Rock, stopped at Wilson Arch, although it was rainy and we weren't wearing the best shoes to be hiking on slippery wet rock, it was still cool to see.  We got through the crowd in Moab, and stopped at a place to see some beautiful red rock formations, and pick up some red rock hearts to take back to our loved ones for Memorial Day.  An awesome storm  rolled in and I sure do love the thunder and rain, but I don't love driving in those conditions.  Mostly because I want to watch instead of drive.  But we made it home safe and sound after visiting Grandma Johns, Aunt Bev's, my mom's, and Grandma & Grandpa Jones' graves and picking up a tired smelly Willow.  

New Place

 While Gator was celebrating the end of the school year last night with her friends, I was helping Davis and Kin with something exciting in their lives.  They got their own apartment and moved in yesterday.  We did some unpacking, it is a really nice place and I hope they are happy there.  I made dinner and took them their first meal in their own place.  Gator and I are going over Monday night for dessert.  It is strange but fun too to visit my grown kids in their own homes.  Just means I'm getting old.  

Last Day of School

 We finished up another school year today.   I still have work and school, but it is nice to have a summer break from one job.  Gator finished 8th grade with a 4.0 the whole year!  She works hard for good grades, and she was excited to accomplish a 4.0 every quarter.  She had a good year, and is actually sad for summer break.  That will change more and more every morning though as she gets to stay in bed longer.  

Gator has lots to keep her busy this summer though.  Friends and her work.  Between that and trek or girls camp she will have a busy summer.  

Springtime

 It has been really hit and miss with spring vs winter weather.  In fact just today Owen said it was snowing in Pocatello.  Tuesday it was nearly 90 degrees, but today it was 58 degrees. I am completely okay with how it has been though, especially after I read on the news today that we are supposed to have a really hot dry summer.  We've been enjoying spring though and released our butterflies today, my hummingbird feeder is the cool place to hang out, and there was a lunar eclipse last week.

 Gator is doing awesome with her temple goal.  We have been going to the temple weekly.  I think we are about half way to meeting her goal for the year, but we now have an appointment for all the remaining open temples.  She gets so excited and I love seeing her and how much she loves the temple.

5 months with Willow and Gator and her and completely attached.  I wasn't sure I wanted another dog, but there is no going back now.  

Rainbows

Driving home from Kaysville last night there were rainbows everywhere.  It was so pretty, and hard to concentrate on the roads.
