Winter for a morning

We had about 4 hours of winter this morning.  We woke up and there was a beautiful snowstorm, we were hoping it would stay all day so we could play, but it was a spring storm and the snow vanished pretty quickly.  But it was awesome while it lasted, we've sure missed winter this year.

He never learns

Owen talked me into checking him out early and going shopping with me to get Ally's birthday present.  He has a way of putting treats in the basket without me knowing and got these egg candies.  Apparently he never learned when he was little because he is still sticking things up his nose.  At least we didn't have to visit the ER this time.

Spa Night

Owen and Davis went on a campout tonight with the scouts.  Davis was so excited because he is now 12 and gets to go on these campouts. I hope they are staying warm and having fun.  Gator and I had a girls night.  We had to do some grocery shopping because we were out of a lot of stuff, most importantly...TP.  But after getting back from good old Walmart, we had a spa night.  Lots of beauty treatments going on and it wore her right out, I guess she got so relaxed that she just crashed right after I got her hair rinsed out and face mask washed off.

Play Day

We are celebrating birthdays a different way this year.  Instead of a big friend party, we are doing a family day.  I wanted more fun time with my family.  We had to wait a couple of weeks to celebrate Davis's day because of wrestling and skiing, but yesterday we got a very fun day in and Davis had a great time deciding everything that we did.  We headed south and ended up in Orem at the biggest trampoline park in the U.S.  Davis loves these places and has wanted to go to this one for awhile, but it took a special day for me to make the drive for a trampoline park.  We ate at Texas Roadhouse and Davis got a free dessert and then he wanted to shop for a ski helmet for his birthday present.  We went to Cabela's and Scheels.  Both stores where the boys could get lost for hours and hours, but it was late, so Ally and I lucked out with just a couple hours of roaming.  We waited so long for Davis's day, that now we are going to wait just a week or so and have another birthday.  Ally has her day all planned out already. I'm not sure how the boys will take it, but they said they will be good sports for her.

Out of hand

Part of the fun of getting a real Christmas tree is burning it in the spring.  I have a friend who dropped off her tree as well and hers dried out a lot faster than ours and was ready to burn.  It got a little bigger then Owen & Davis anticipated, but all is well, we got it out.

No school

I look forward to these days just as much as my kids.  I love having days off of work, today was Presidents day, now we are counting down the days to spring break. With the crazy warm winter we are having, we decided to throw in a park day today.  Davis went to lunch with Dave and Sheila for his birthday, but Owen, Gator, and I had fun with our cousins.

Valentines

Happy Valentines Day!  Davis had a dance at school.  This is a big deal for these 6th graders, they all have a good time and realize the nerves were for not.
Happy Valentines Owen, Davis, and Ally
Friday night, Owen had plans so Davis and Ally each invited a friend to the Roy Complex.  They had the whole place to themselves, not a single soul was there to compete with for space.
I got this picture sent to me today, from Davis.  No prodding at all, he sent it all on his own.

The weekend

Owen had a wrestling tournament yesterday.   It was the last one for the season,  I'm so excited about that!   We were there from 9am until 8 pm.  Wrestling tournaments take forever.   Owen placed 3rd in Youth Super State.  He had a great experience wrestling this year.   He had never expressed interest in the sport before,  so I was surprised when he came home and said he wanted to try it.   I think he will stick with it through out high school.
After the forever long tournament,  we went to Krispie Kreme to get free donuts.   They were fresh and hot,  the kids didn't even wait for the car,  they just plopped down and started enjoying their treat.  Mid donut,  Gator said the donuts were worth all the hard at school.
National Ice Cream for Breakfast is always the first Saturday in February.  We had to tweek it a little this year, because I didn't think it was best if Owen went and wrestled all day having just ice cream for breakfast.  So we decided to celebrate Sunday morning, but Ally woke up in the middle of the night sick.  We were not going to let this holiday pass by this year, so we made sure Ally was feeling better and had National Ice Cream for brunch day... a day late.

National Bubblegum Day!

We have fun celebrating these silly national treat/food holidays.  It makes a normal day just a little more fun.

That time of year

It's been a bit surreal for me that last couple of days.  It is registration time for the 2015-2016 school year.  The boys have been bringing home info for us to look at together.  I had the stuff on the cupboard and just glanced at it this morning as we were getting ready to leave for the day. Fremont HIGH school and Rocky Mountain Jr. High.  My boys will be in high school and Jr. high next year.  I am dying.

12 years old

This kid.....what a one of a kind, special member of our family, fun loving, competitive, athletic, adventure loving, momma's boy, smart kid. I could not go a single day without seeing his smile, his smile cures a bad day instantly.   Davis had a birthday and he turned 12 years old.

Superbowl/Birthday Celebration

I'm not a very competitive person.  Sports make me  a nervous wreck and I hate that for every team that wins, there is also a team that has to lose.  Clark and the boys, on the other hand, uber competitive.  Like not healthy competitive.  Case in point.....Super Bowl Sunday, especially when Owen's team plays Davis's team.  That is just not fair.
I do like football, but I LOVE celebrating Davis.  The Super Bowl Party is always the day we celebrate Davis's birthday over at the Stewarts.  Davis loves it, because he gets to decide what we eat and he has some Aunts that love him and make him whatever dessert he wants.  What a spoiled kid!
And the winner was......the Patriots!  What a game.  It was so close and both teams had some pretty miraculous plays that only made the game more tense and exciting to watch.

Tabernacle Concert

Rocky Mountain's concert choir was invited to preform in a concert in the Tabernacle on Temple Square.  Only two Junior High schools were invited so it was a pretty awesome opportunity for these kids.  They sounded amazing, Rocky Mountain's choir teacher is a fantastic teacher and Owen has loved having him the last three years.  We hung out in Salt Lake for the rest of the afternoon since we were already down there.  We took a rooftop tour of the conference center, a short tour of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, and played at the Planetarium for a little bit.  There is so much to do in Salt Lake, my kids love going down and spending the day.  After each trip down, we come home with a new list of what we want to go back down and do.
