Fall Festival

The new school has been okay so far for Gator.  It just feels so different.  There are things she misses about Kanesville and most definetely some people.  Country View had a Fall Festival tonight, so I thought it would be fun to go and join the fun and maybe meet some new people.  Well, she invited Lainee, and we chatted with all the PTA moms that we knew from Kanesville.  So we didn't go out of our comfort zone too much, but we still had a fun time.

Homecoming

This week has been Homecoming week at Fremont.  I never got involved in high school, but after watching Owen this week, I realize Homecoming is a big deal and it is busy!  He just walked in from the dance and is ready to go crash in bed.

Holding on to summer

The best time of year is upon us.  It is getting cooler and the air feels different.  I am so in love with fall and everything about it, but this weekend we were invited boating.  Just one last summer activity.

And our favorite snowcone place closed for the season this week.  Of course we had to go get a treat on closing night.

Happenings

Owen and Davis have been getting along so much better lately.  They still fight, but they actually hang out together.   I wasn't home the other night, but I left dinner, I guess they'd rather go out to Chinese with friends then have chicken nuggets and fries.
Gator got to go to Lulu's game on Friday.  They played BYU and Gator was over the moon excited to go watch her play.
Davis's game this week against Layton.  It was hot and miserable on the metal bleachers, but I sure loved watching him play.  I just needed to move over to the shady grass after half time.
And Owen's game also against Layton.  This was the first game of season play and it was on TV so pretty stressful, but they did amazing.
Gator also had a game in Layton today.  I drove to Layton a lot the last few days.  They began this game out in the rain, but soon the sun was back and it was humid.  That final whistle finally blew and we won by 1.  It was a tough game.
Owen could basically have tickets to any college football game he wanted around here.  He took some friends up to Logan this week to watch them play ISU.

This Weeks Games

It seems all I post about in the fall is our sports.  But it honestly is about all we do this time of year.  I try to squeeze in a few seasonal things because it is the best time of year, but we mostly go to practices and games.  I love it though.  It was another HOT week, I am ready for the fall temps to be here.  Gator's soccer game was 100 degrees again, but these girls played so good.  They are playing so well together.  We played this team last year and it was a tight game, but the girls have improved so much in the off season they kinda dominated this year.  Gator loves her coaches.  I feel so blessed to have happened upon this team, it is a ways to go for practices and games, but it is so worth it.  She was on the edge a couple years ago of being done with soccer, but this coach called her after teams had already been made and I am so grateful he did, it is the perfect fit for us.
Davis's game was a tough one this week.  We played Bonneville.  Bonneville didn't have enough players for a sophomore team, so they combined it with JV.  I was a little upset because seniors can play JV.  Fremont was fair to their boys and rotated their sophomore and JV players fairly even when we were getting creamed by Bonneville who only played their older boys, not their sophomores at all.  I wish they would've just given the sophomores a bye and let the JV team play their game.  I don't think it was neccessary to beat our boys down for the sake of making sure they got a game in.  BUT, I am so proud of Davis.  He is by far the youngest on the team as a 9th grader.  So some of these kids were seniors and the way Davis played, the only difference was in the age, he played so good.  And as the score got ran up more and more, he didn't give up.  So that is more important than winning.
The varsity team whomped on Bonneville Friday night, they got revenge for the game the day before.  Now, I don't ever say much about the refs.  I think that would be a hard job, and I think they do thier best, and I feel so bad as they get yelled at the whole game, until now.  I've never seen such terrible reffing in my life in any sport.  These boys had it out for them, and they played above the poor officiating and penalty after penalty after penalty they still came out on top and won 35 to 13.  In the 4th quarter all the starters were pulled and got to enjoy the game from the sidelines while the other players took a turn playing.  Region play starts next week, it will be tough, but these boys will do their best for their school!

It really is the best time of the year

Davis started the weekend Thursday with a game, then Owen Friday and Gator today.  What a fun way to spend the last 3 days, cheering on my 3 favorite people in the whole world.  They did amazing, I am so proud of them.  Fremont had a killer of a game.  We scored then the other team did, it went back and forth 7 to 7, 14 to 14, 21 to 21 and into overtime.  I can't imagine the pressure on any one of those kids.  Fremont dug deep and had just enough determination to come out on top with a win 28 to 27.  It was so exciting, I say that now, but in the moment I felt like I would throw up.  Gator's team moved up a level this year.  They have been practicing hard and they looked so good today.  It is so fun to watch 9 & 10 year olds play like such a solid team.  They won 5 to 1 in the 95 degree heat.  I think they dumped more ice water on themselves than they drank.  I love what these teams do for my kids.  I get goose bumps watching them play and be proud of themselves and how they are doing.  Win or lose they always learn.  I was never an athlete, what these guys have is from their own hard work, they don't have the most athletic genetics, but they work hard and all 3 have reason to be proud because they are awesome!!
