Finally after years of wanting to, I bought tickets for the ice castles. They are in Midway, so it's a little bit of a drive and tickets have to be bought in advance so every winter I wanted to go, but every year winter ended and I hadn't gotten a trip planned yet. I bought tickets back in November and I had to reschedule them one time, but we made it. I bought tickets that included a sleigh ride around the property, that was fun. Ends up the guy that led the sleigh was the son of a seminary teacher Owen once had. I was worried the weather wasn't going to cooperate because it has been warm and rainy, but besides a really muddy parking lot, everything else worked out great. It was beautiful, the sleigh ride and castles. Such a fun break to the mid winter blahs.
There were a few slides. One was a kids slide and the other was closed, so the line was pretty long for the remaining slide. Owen said he was too big, and Davis didn't want to hit his head again, so it was just Lu and Gator that went down it. From what I saw, you actually went pretty fast. The ice formations were beautiful before, but once it got dark and the lights turned on, it was so awesome. By then the kids were cold and hungry, so we pretty much left. I am so happy that I finally went to the ice castles. I know I want to go again, we'll see what next year brings.
