Sports and things

We are coming to an end of football and soccer season.  Crazy to think how something that takes up so much of our time for so long coming to an end, but that is how life works.  And we always find a way to fill up the time.  Gator has a few more soccer games for the fall season, but basketball is already in full swing.  Davis's first season of Fremont football is winding down with his last game next week, and Owen's last season as a Fremont Silverwolf is creeping up.  He bought a little time though as his team won their way into the playoffs Friday night.  He doesn't want this time to end.  I've posted a lot of pictures of the kids and their sports, but I'm just going to keep on posting them because it's what they love.  And even though it causes me great anxiety, I'm addicted to watching them play.  I get through the anxiety with taking pictures, I hide behind my camera I admit that, but I catch some good moments.  Fremont needed a couple more yards to get a a 1st down, so they counted on Davis's strentgh as he pushed right up the middle and the QB followed for the 1st down.
Each home game the team is led onto the field by some little league teams in the area.  Owen has been so cute with these younger players.  He said when they are out there with them, they are on the team.  I laugh as Owen is surrounded by these kids and he breaks away from his pregame routine to give them high 5's and to cheer them on in their own season.
The boys usually go hang out with friends on the weekends.  Gator sometimes has plans as well leaving me home thinking I won't like my future very much as they keep growing up and move out.  Last weekend, we crafted.  I don't craft too often, but Gator loves it.
Owen is taking a cooking class this semester.  There are quite a few home assignments, and in true Owen fashion he leaves them all until right before the due date, so we spent all weekend cooking and still have a couple more.  I hope he's learning how to cook for himself though, because it's coming time for that very soon.  (Boo)
The first choir season of the year is done.  Davis has sang in the concert choir for his 8th grade and now 9th grade year.  He was also asked to participate in the Honors Choir.  Again, another thing that is just a born with talent because I can't sing worth crap.  I'm glad he enjoys it though, it adds a little "culture" side to his rough and tough football/basketball side.
A couple more basketball pics of my awesome little left handed (don't know where that came from, but it's only when she plays basketball) defender.  She doesn't let anyone get past her.
A few pictures from Davis's game this week against Clearfield.  It got intense after the defense had a hard time holding onto a  25 to 6 lead, but luckily time ran out and we won 25 to 18.
Friday night was Senior night.  Owens last football on the Fremont field.  I wanted to just sit on the field and cry.
Hooper has a really fun event every Halloween.  Some friends went with Gator and I.  She even went in a haunted house, but hated every second of it.   She wanted to be a girl shadow, so this is what we came up with.  I think she does a good job with her costumes every year.

Pumpkin Patch

Even when you're 17 & 14 you still have to go to the pumpkin patch with your mom.  I had to actually split it up into two trips because of schedules.  Gator and I went on Saturday, then the boys met me tonight after football practice.  I told Owen he had to go though because this was probably his last year going to the pumpkin patch with me.  Next year he'll be at school or on a mission.  I think the tear in my eye got him, because he happily agreed to go.  He did call me crazy though, but that is okay, I will own being crazy.
And the ugly pumpkin this year.

Double Duty

Gator started basketball season today, and soccer is still going for a couple more weeks.  She's fine, more reasons to see all her friends, she never has a problem with seeing her friends.

Frightmares

Gator and I went to Lagoon tonight.  We didn't have a football game because we played last night, so that freed up Friday to go enjoy some seasonal fun.  She brought along a couple of friends, and I loved hearing them laugh and seeing them have so much fun.  That is all I need to have the best time, seeing my kids smile and enjoying themselves is my favorite thing to do.

My time of year

There is something to be appreciated about each season, but I look forward to fall all year long.  My ideal climate would be a month of summer, a month of winter, and a month of spring, then 9 glorious months of fall.  We drove today up around Pineview and over the divide, it was beautiful.  One day I will own a home up there just for this time of year where I can sit on my deck all day and enjoy everything around me.
We brought some fall back for my mom.

Intense games this week

Fremont played Northridge this week, and Davis & Owen had almost identical games.  And I aged about 20 years in the process.  Thursday the sophomores were down 0 to 15.  They played terrible and never even got a first down in almost the whole first half.  We'd about all written off the game and wished it to just get over so we could all go home and warm up.  It's been very cold and stormy this week and the rain and wind had started to pick up again.  The boys, however, were fueled by the cold and angry at how the game was going and they began to fight back and scored right before half time, making the score 8 to 15.  We got the ball back beginning the second half and went and scored again!!  The score was 16 to 15 and that is the way it remained for the rest of the game.  The defene played great, stopping some big plays.  The offense was close a couple more times, but just couldn't get it in again.  But that is okay, because that 1 point won them the game!!  Frozen to the bone, we went and got hot chocolate after the game.
Still worn out from Thursday's game we headed back to Northridge Friday for another cold football game.  And it started out horrendous.  Oh my gosh, these boys did not show up to play and very quickly fell far behind with a score of 0 to 17 at half.  Northridge was celebrating their win already, but soon became very quiet as Fremont fought back.  And fight back they did.  Soon it was 7 to 17, then 14 to 17 in the 4th quarter.  The boys were so fired up and scored again quickly making it 21 to 17 with about 5 minute left in the game.  Time for some major defense, but they were exhausted and Northridge got down to the 2 yard line and Fremont used their last bit of umph and somehow kept them from scoring and we got the ball back to run out the clock.  We were all so excited, and shocked.  I am not made for games like this and 2 back to back about killed my nerves.
As if football was crazy enough, Gator had a soccer game today.  We were up against a tough team, we beat them last time, and they were mad and scored quick.  Our girls struggled today, everyone has a bad game once in awhile, but when the whole team is off on the same day it's no good, plus our keeper couldn't make it to this game.  The score was 2 to 2 at half and remained there the rest of the game.  I am so proud of my little defender, she helped her teammate out that was filling in for keeper by playing awesome defense keeping the score tied.  Our offense had so many shots on goal, just none of them quite went in.  But we are happy with the tie, the girls were exhausted.
What a great game weekend!!
