Wild weather day

Just yesterday it was 98 degrees and we went swimming in the river, today there was practically a river in the apartment parking lot.  We are beginning a slow moving storm that will last a few days, and it's supposed to rain a lot, I am so excited for this storm.  I love the rain, and I love puddle jumping.  It took all day with me having to work and everyone having plans, but finally there was someone to go puddle jumping with me. 

Dog days of summer

Davis got off work early yesterday, and I was picking up Gator thinking gosh it is so dang hot.  Davis had the same thought, so we took Joey swimming again.  We went to a swimming hole in Riverdale that we usually go to tube in the summer.  The water isn't as high this year because it's already been so dry, it is going to be a bad summer for water.  But we still had fun, Joey still got to swim and Gator took a couple trips down the little waterfalls.  Perfect to cool off a little on a hot day.

So long friends

We let the butterflies go.  They were getting pretty rambunctious in the cage and wanted to spread their wings and fly.  Sadly one had deformed wings, and couldn't fly.  We put him in the flower pot, but I suspect without being able to fly to food and water he won't make it.  One of the other butterflies hung around with him for quite awhile before he decided to take off and explore. 

Just a glimpse

We are still in the Covid19 pandemic.  Right now Utah is in the yellow phase.  So there are still a lot of restrictions and things are in no way normal, nor will it ever be the "normal" we once knew, but we are able to do more things and go more places.  The problems now though are riots.  That is scary to me.  So many people are angry with police men and  rights and they are rioting.  Shooting people, and setting cars on fire.  Sadly this is going on in every major city in the US.  This scares me more than the virus.  I wasn't ever too scared to catch the virus, but crazy angry people scare me to the point that I don't feel safe in my house.  2020 has been quite the year with Covid19, earthquakes, fires, and now riots.  I got a new part time job at an assisted living facility.  These poor residents have not been able to leave the facility since March.  At least now they can come out of their rooms, but they couldn't even do that in March and April.  I work as a recreation assistant.  It is fun, and I feel it is a worthwhile job helping the residents have a little activity and fun things to do.  I had to get a Covid19 test before I could start work.  The National Guard came in and wore hazmat suits to do the tests. 

Double the mask at work.  That is a lot of fun as you're trying to call Bingo, or do exercises with the residents. 

Hot weekend

I guess at least now it is June.  It is still way too hot for the time of year, and for my liking, but June is at least summer I guess.  Joey is my dog.  He hates the heat.  We took him swimming over the weekend, and he seemed to love that.  Until last month, he has been scared of the water, but he has grown out of that.  The river was pretty darn cold, but it felt so good. 

Christmas Presents

Another 95 degree day spent in the water.  Lainee and Gator got a Lagoon pass for Christmas.  I'm so glad they are both able to use them this year and hopefully they get to have lots more fun days like today spent together at Lagoon. 

This is summer

Rachelle invited us over to play on the slip n slide.  She bought an over sized one so even the bigger kids could play.  Besides the slip n slide, Tyler also got out his bumper ball things.  The kids thought those were great.  Today was the beginning of a heat wave, it is a little early so hopefully we get some cooler days before July and August.  It is supposed to be a very hot, very dry year.  Yuck, I certainly do not like that forecast.  I guess we'll just have to have more days like today, playing in the water. 

 It was also National Hamburger day.  A good hamburger is my favorite meal.  Luckily we got to celebrate.  Hamburger prices are through the roof right now, we will probably be forced to go vegetarian.  My kids will not survive.

 Owen was in Milford today helping Dave & Sheila move up to Cove Fort tomorrow for their mission.  But he still sent me this picture!

Memorial Day

Our group got smaller and smaller as we traveled today between Farmington and Layton, but we got our visits made.  Grandma and Aunt Bev in Farmington, Grandma and Grandpa Jones in Kaysville, and mom in Layton.  They've struggled with the ground by my mom, and it's kinda starting to bug me.  First it was a swamp and so wet that it killed her tree, so I guess they've turned the sprinklers off completely because now the grass is dead.  It looks terrible.  I hope they figure it out soon and she can have nice green grass, and her shade tree.  

Farmington Creek Trail aka car graveyard hike

Third time is the charm.  I've wanted to do this hike for awhile, but whenever I had it planned, I had to cancel it.  First because Davis had too much homework, and the the second time because Owen got stuck in the mud up in Logan while fishing.  We finally got it done though, and it was very worth it.  I pushed myself on this hike, but I'm so glad.  It was a beautiful hike and such a perfect day to go.  It was overcast most of the day, but when the sun did come out, it wasn't very hot.  Down by the waterfall was actually pretty chilly.  Speaking of down by the waterfall, I can't believe I didn't die.  It was a very steep climb down and there was a rope to use to climb down and up.  At first I told the kids no when I saw the climb and the rope, but they just slid down on the rock face instead.  I was watching from above, but I really wanted to go down, so I braved the rope.  I can't believe I did that.  And the way up, luckily Owen was behind me to catch me because I slid and it wouldn't have been good.  Besides the fear of dying in front of my kids, I'm so glad I went down because it was awesome.  And I'm so excited we were finally able to do this hike.
