NHS

Gator is getting involved in a lot more things this year at school.  One thing she is doing is she joined the National Honor Society.  They had a ceremony this evening to induct all the kids who have joined.  It is kinda cool starting a new school, and all new traditions.

I still have things to learn

With Owen being done playing football, I thought I could plan a family weekend in the fall.  Apparently I still need to be careful planning in the fall because I planned a family weekend on the biggest rivalry weekend for college football.  It would've been nice if they told me this back in July when I asked them if the dates I was planning would work, but whatever.  I still went ahead with my plans, just had to deal with Owen being in the house most of the evening watching football on TV.  It was actually still a great weeekend with my family.  With Owen and Davis, I will always and forever be competing with football and my favorite season.  I love football as well though, so I will just have to learn to plan a football fall weekend.  Maybe next year, I will let the biggest rivalry weekend work in my favor and just plan a longer weekend.  Friday night will be our activity and Saturday we can watch the games and eat tailgate type foods.

The dogs love the family weekends as much as I do.  They play so hard until they are all exhausted.  Well, except for Steele, nothing exhausts that dog.
In our old backyard we had fires all the time.  This brought back a lot of memories as we sat around the fire.
Watching The Haunted Mansion outside.  They all wanted a scary movie, but this one is scary enough for me.
Part of Owens homework, which was nice because he made us breakfast Sunday morning.
Owen, Gator, and I went to church.  I sat in the backseat totally weirded out that my youngest was the one driving us around.

Pumpkin Patch

Years ago I took the kids to a pumpkin patch where you paid by the armful.  I found that place again this year, but sadly the mosquitoes found it first.  We were only able to stay for a couple of minutes because the we were covered in bites and they hurt.  Zoie picked up about 20 pumpkins in that time though, so her couple of minutes were a success.  We got turned around on our way home, but it was perfect because we drove by a church with a ton of fallen leaves to play in.  It seems decorating for Halloween is becoming more popular than Christmas so we drove around and looked at spooky houses.  I don't think Brady loved that though, he took my paper with addresses on it balled it up and tossed it out the window.   Willow didn't love it either so she was fine with going home.

Feeling my age

I don't feel like I am nearly 47 years old.  But last night it was pretty obvious.  Gator invited me to a concert with her.  I didn't know the guy or his music (I actually really liked the music though), but I wanted to hang out with her, and she needed me to get her in because it was at a bar after all.  Being a Monday night, I was a little worried being out so late, but that was the least of my concerns after seeing the venue.  We stood for an hour in line, and three hours once inside the small room filled to the brim with poeple.  Young people, really annoying people, and drunk people.  Like I said the music was really good though, and we were home by 11:00 last night, so it wasn't too hard to get up for work today.  The experience made me feel old, but I had a really good time hanging out with Gator!

Disappointing Fall

This fall is sadly being ruined by insane heat.  I hate it.  It is not a typical colorful Utah fall.  Every year, Carrie reserves a spot at Mueller Park for dinner.  We went up over the weekend, and saw a little bit of fall, but it just isn't as amazing as usual.  We still enjoyed the family time, I will always love the times we get together, I just wait all year for fall and I am sad it is so hot this year.

Circus

We got on the Front Runner this afternoon and took Brady & Zoie to the circus.   I bought the tickets back in February, so it's crazy that it finally came time to go.  It was different without any animals, but the acts were amazing and daring.  It was 2 hours of constant action and we had a great time.  If we go again, I will probably drive, the ride home was a bit crowded with FanX goers, but it just added to the entertainment of the day.  It was a circus on the Front Runner, but we made it home and had a very fun day!

Beautiful Hike

Davis, Kin, Gator, and I went on a hike up to Stewart Falls.  Stewart Falls is in Provo Canyon, which has got to be one of the prettiest places in the state in the fall.   We've been to Stewart Falls before in the summer, it was way better in the fall.  We got to see the last of the wildflowers, and the beginning of the leaves changing colors.  There was a nice breeze, but that was very short lived.  The afternoon and the next 10 days at least are supposed to be 90 degrees.  I am not happy about this, I barely survive the heat in July & August, by the end of September and October it is supposed to be nice and cool.  I have a busy fall planned, the weather better get with the program soon, I wait the whole year for fall.  Regardless, the hike was beautiful.  We had a great time!

Awesome Storm

We had the most awesome storm blow over.  I am a storm lover, the rain, the thunder, the rainbow.  This storm had it all!
