Cherry Peak sledding

We went up to Logan to celebrate Davis's birthday this weekend.  There is a new ski resort up there and there is a tubing hill that Davis wanted to play on.  It was so much fun.  I did try the hill a couple of times, but I'm a chicken.  I had a lot more fun watching the kids.

 Texas Roadhouse for dinner.
We stayed up in Logan for the night.  I thought a hot tub would feel nice after sledding all day.  And it did.  The bed left a ton to be desired, but the hot tub felt good.

Celebrations

National Bubblegum Day.  I had to celebrate this 3 different times Friday with each different kid because they were not home at the same time at all the whole day.  But more bubblegum for me!
And it was more lunch then breakfast, but we still had to celebrate National Icecream for Breakfast day today!

Davis is 13!!!!

I love my kids birthdays.  I love to make a big deal out of them and only them.  They are great kids and they deserve all the attention.  Davis turned 13 today, and we had fun celebrating his day with him.  I had one of my peer tutors take Davis a treat in every one of his classes.  Some of them even got in the spirit and led the class in a round of Happy Birthday.
I arranged for a coworker to stay with my students during lunch and I took Davis out to Subway.  He loves Subway.
And after school, he talked me into a shake, even though he got all that candy through out the day.
Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner.  A family favorite, well at least the boys.  But it's actually a favorite more for the drink then the food, but the wings are delicious too!

Art work

One thing you can always find Gator doing is coloring and drawing.  She carries her art supplies with her everywhere she goes.  We were at Stewarts last weekend, and her, Lucy, and Eden were having a little girl time.  They help support each other with the loss of grandma, by talking to each other and sharing their feelings.  I love it, I think it is great they have each other.  They were drawing pictures and this is what Gator drew.  The boys asked why grandma was upside down in the sky, she said grandma was watching over her from heaven.  I love it!

January 28th

Happy Birthday to me!  After all the craziness of the day, the kids took me out to icecream.  A big mint oreo shake was the perfect treat for my birthday, but I enjoyed hanging with my kids more than the icecream.

Free time

A day off is pretty rare, but a day off that works with our cousins day off is nearly impossible.  Saturday was an impossible day, and we were able to go swimming.  Gator adores swimming and is so happy when we go.  The boys had an admirer following them around the pool, she started with Owen then moved to Tyler.  When they didn't share her affection, she got pretty mean though and started a big water fight.  I stepped in and tried to shoo her away while taking a group picture, but she just stood behind me and squirted Rachelle and I in the back of our heads for taking away her "friends".  After the pool, the kids and I went to dinner and shoe shopping.  The boys were needing some new school shoes.  Ross is where we go get their shoes, they have a big selection for Davis, and a size 13+ section for Owen.  Owen doesn't get much selection wearing a 17.5 size shoe, but they do usually have at least one pair or two for him to pick from.

Enjoying Winter!

We didn't have school today.  First thought that goes through my mind "yea, I get to spend a day hanging out with my kids", but Davis has a very different thought go through his mind, "awesome, another day to ski."  We worked out a compromise that we could both be happy with.  He went skiing all morning, then Owen, Gator and I brought up lunch and hot chocolate and we spent the afternoon playing in the snow.
Look who finally skied over and joined us playing in the snow.
I don't have a desire to ski anymore, I sure had fun as a kid though.  But I still love to go spend time up at Snowbasin.  It is beautiful up there.
Davis tried to teach Gator a little about skiing, it was pretty much a disaster.  She does want to start skiing as well, but after the few minutes she spent on skis today, I'm questioning her desire.

All our time

Lately all our time is spent in a gym.  Between basketball and soccer, I feel that is all we do.  The kids love their teams, and I feel they are doing great.  I know they are each happy with how their seasons are going.

It's a bet

Chris and Owen placed a bet last weekend.  Chris bet Owen, he wouldn't carry a briefcase as his backpack for a full school week.  I think in the back of his mind, Owen knew this week was a short week at school in Weber County, but he wasn't telling his secret.  But for the 4 days, Owen carried the briefcase all school day.  He said he didn't mind it at all, except it was kinda heavy.  Chris paid in full tonight and took Owen to Fizz for a drink.

Love notes

Before mom passed away, I had bought her a gift card from Jimmy's flowers to receive a free bouquet of flowers every month.  I kept the card and we are going to go and place the bouquet on moms grave every month.
The girls left grandma love notes in the snow.
We've designed moms headstone, and hope it will be set by Memorial Day.  I think it is beautiful, the lighthouse is one that Krissy drew.  They took a trip to the coast with mom and Colin and Krissy got a piece of driftwood and burned this lighthouse into the drift wood.  I love that we were able to get it put on her headstone.

Deep Fry Night

Owen's been bugging for a deep fry night.  They deep fried twinkies, oreos,, taquitos, mozzarella sticks, and mini tacos while attempting marshmallows and bananas .
Gator and I stuck to dipping things in chocolate.  We had pretzels, marshmallows, cinnamon bears, and strawberries.

2016

We didn't do much for New Years this year.  Owen has been in a basketball tournament, so that has kept us busy all week.  I did have a chance to take one last picture of 2015 as the kids did a few fireworks last night.
I got to go out to dinner with these awesome people tonight for New Years.  I took my first picture of 2016, and it was an awesome one!!
