Big family for the weekend

Krissy and PJ went to San Diego for their anniversary, and Gator & I went over to stay with the kids to keep an eye on them for the weekend.  Friday we arrived bright and early and tried to beat this insane heat wave we are having by going to the zoo before it could heat up too much.  We had a great 2 hours, but by noon it was so hot we couldn't stand it any more and neither could the animals.  They had all retreated to the indoors or shade so they could sleep.  We drove home to cool off, but that wasn't working too well, so we went swimming.  Everyone has Cherry Hill passes this summer and I think we'll be spending a lot of time there in the pool.  Especially if this heat keeps up, it is never this hot at the beginning of June, and I just know I will die a sweaty miserable death.

On Saturday, I did homework in the morning (boring) and then it was a science day all afternoon.  I loved doing science day with my kids when they were younger and Gator has wanted to do another one for a while.  I think they enjoyed it, I was mad because the Boo Bubbles didn't work out, but the kids were fine, they just all went outside to have a water fight.
And yesterday was another Cherry Hill day.  Now back home to pack up and move.

Time out

We have a long list of summer to do's, but we still needed a break.  Tomorrow we're moving the rest of Owen's stuff up to Pocatello, I have a couple of house sitting jobs, packing up to move, a wedding, school for me, a new job for Davis, and trying to get as many hours as I can at the assisted living home.  So a couple hours tonight at the pool was nice.

Last Day of School

The last day of school this year feels like a big accomplishment.  We got to take off the stupid masks for the last week of school, I was quarantined three times for what I think was absolutely no reason, one way hallways, no assemblies or field trips, social distancing, and a whole slew of new vocabulary words/phrases that I will happily never use again, but we are now on summer vacation and it seems Covid is finally on it's way out.  We have a busy summer with moving, wedding, my school, house sitting, and work, but we are happy to not have work/school at Rocky for 3 months!  Gator adjusted to Jr High well enough.  Her grades were fantastic, but she does not like the atmosphere at all, and I don't blame her one bit.  She seeks refuge in my classroom and we will gladly take her, my students love her.  Great job on your 7th grade year Gator, I love having you at school with me everyday.
I've worked with Leslie since I started 8 years ago, she has worked there for 18 years and she is retiring.  I am the top of the totem pole now as far as years in the classroom now.  I've worked with some awesome people at Rocky over the years, I do think that this group has worked together the best though.  It is really fun to go to work, but I am still glad it is summer break.
Gator wanted a 4.0 all year, and she was so close every quarter with a 3.95, but last quarter she got that 4.0!  Her and I went to lunch to celebrate her hard work and the last day of school.
We also went to a movie.  Her and Blake have been waiting a long long time for this movie (A Quiet Place Two), but with Covid it was postponed over and over again.  Finally they are releasing new movies and allowing people back in the theaters.  I was fine sending these 2 to the movie, it was one that I didn't care to see because it is a scary movie.  Rachelle said she wanted to see it too, and I didn't want to be left out, so we crashed their party and went with them.  It was actually pretty good until the end.  It was left wide open for another sequel and I'm going to have to see the dang thing and get scared again.
The pool at the apartment wasn't open last year.  They wouldn't have been able to open it anyway because of Covid, so they took the year to remodel the whole pool area.  It is really nice, but we are moving.  We have a month to enjoy the pool, so the day they opened it was today, Gator and a couple of friends were there even though it was only about 72 degrees.  They had summer vacation to start and they wanted to start it off with swimming!

He's a High School Graduate and $60 richer

Davis did it.  Today was graduation.  Covid took away so much from seniors this year, it almost took away graduation too, but luckily restrictions are loosening now and Fremont put together a wonderful graduation ceremony on the football field.  It was eventful to say the least.  First Davis wore his pink crocs and almost got sent home.  The administration didn't think fun footwear was appropriate.  As names were being called, Davis sent me a text "I'm getting paid $60 to fall."  Owen said he wouldn't do it, but I knew he would, and he probably would've done it for nothing.  Just for the laughs and so everyone would remember him.  He likes attention.  It was pretty funny though, I do have to admit it.  Congratulations Davis!  I am looking forward to not fighting about homework and you getting up in the morning.

And just because I'm feeling a little sentimental.  This is the first day of kindergarten.

Some more family pictures

My friend finished editing our family pictures.  I love how they turned out, and I love this family of mine.

"I'm fine, it's fine, everything is fine"

Owen and Kylee got an apartment so Owen is moving out this week for good.  Davis decided to sale his truck and look for something smaller that gets better gas mileage and is in better condition.  Davis is graduating on Wednesday.  Owen got a 4.0 in his first semester of college, while in football season.  The wedding is coming up quickly.  We have only a month left in this apartment before we move.  I won't need the couch or bed, so Owen packed those up and took them to his apartment.   All these changes, sorry Gator if I'm clinging extra tight lately.  I am just feeling a little bit unsettled and I need a safe place to hold on to.

Celebratory dinner.
$6500 cash for his truck.  He did everything by himself for this sale.  He misses it, but just until he is driving something else of his own.
Getting the couch out of my apartment up to his own apartment.
First trailer load up to Pocatello.  "I'm fine, it's fine, everything is fine."
Joey is the proud pup of a 2021 graduate.
On Wednesday, I will have two high school graduates.  "I'm fine, it's fine, everything is fine."
