Spring Break Day #1

After my April Fools joke yesterday, the boys said I owed them a fun day. Good thing I already had planned to take them to Boondocks. They offer game tokens for good grades. So the boys took their report cards in and got paid for their straight A's. I am so proud of Owen and Davis. They are great students. Boondocks was fun! The boys didn't let the weather end their fun. They wanted to do the bumperboats so they were the only ones out there in the snow on the boats. I felt bad for the worker who had to stand there while the boys floated around.

This little bowling alley was great for Ally. She thought the little balls were great and the boys took advantage of everything being small and they thought they were pro bowlers.

And argh, this game just sucks me in every time we go to an arcade. All you do is push a button and the lizards tongue comes out and knocks down bugs, but man I could play this game all day. Yes, I know I have problems.

And the winner for the cute picture of the day is this one. Rachelle brought Blake over to Boondocks for a little bit to play. And Ally and him saw each other and squealed with excitement. I didn't see Blake and I thought something was wrong because the sound Ally made. I turned around and her and Blakers were wrapped in a huge hug. Good thing I had my camera ready this was a "kodak moment".

Success!!!

What a funny morning. I had to work so hard at keeping a straight face. I told the boys last night they cancelled spring break. Oh my gosh, I thought Owen was going to die. He was so upset, I almost felt bad. He cried and cried and said it just wasn't fair to get kids all excited about no school, and than to cancel it. I am so mean! To get them to even go I had to tell them that I would check them out early and take them to McDonalds for lunch (like how I am trying to look like the hero, not the bad guy)?!? The boys woke up and knew it was April Fools and kept playing little jokes on each other and me, but they didn't ever catch on. Owen left saying he was actually glad that they had school because it would be fun on April Fools day. I was like "what!! No you can't be excited for school!" So off they went to the bus stop and my friends came through the back yard and we let the boys sit and wait at the bus stop for a few minutes, and then we jumped out of the garage and yelled "April Fools". It was good. And all the boys took it very well and got a good laugh out of it. I am dreading the day now though, my boys will be working hard to pay me back. Wish me luck!

Looks as if Mother Nature wanted to join in on the fun this year also!

April Fools Plan

Ok so my friend just called me and told me what she was going to do for an April Fools joke on her kids tomorrow. And I had to join in. Weber county is on spring break tomorrow and of course the kids are SO excited for this. Well, we are going to wake the kids up in the morning and tell them spring break has been cancelled and get them ready for school. At 8:05, just like every other day, I will kiss them and send them out the door for the bus. And my friends boys will also be at the bus stop. After a bit we will go out there and yell April Fool's!! Dorky yes, but it will be so funny. And a sacrafice for me also because for weeks I have been looking forward to sleeping in and not having to get up and fix breakfast and get boys dressed and rushing to brush teeth to get out the door on time. But for one day it will be worth it. Are we mean? I will try to get a picture of the kids and write an update in the morning.

Please tell me I am normal

I woke up today and just laid there, my mood getting worse and worse by the second. I just wanted to stay in bed and ignore life. Why is that? Am I normal? Nothing is wrong, life is good. I guess I just wanted to be in a bad mood. I finally dragged myself out of bed and warned the boys that I was in a bad mood. I must have scared them or something because they listened and got ready for school with no problems. Owen went downstairs for a minute and sent me a text. He took a picture of himself and told me that I was an awesome mom and to be happy and that he loved me. That began to break down my hard outer shell and I relaxed a little. I guess I just wanted to have a cranky moment!

It is that time of year again

The familiar scent of campfire filled the air tonight as we had our first fire of the season. We tried something new tonight besides just hot dogs. Clark wanted to do brisket, well it is now 10:00 PM and it is still out there cooking. So even though we had big plans we ended up just eating hot dogs again. Oh well, it was still fun. It was a bit chilly, but we love having family over for our "hot dog parties".

It is now safe to say...

That it is Spring. Normally our weekends are so busy running errands and doing chores, but not this one. We had 2 full days of just hanging out and being outside and playing. My kids see the sun come up and they are gone. They have outgrown our backyard though. I guess an acre isn't big enough anymore because their new favorite thing to do is walk to the park and ride their bikes or scooters. The boys take a whole bag of balls and sports equipment along with them also. All Ally needs is a bottle of bubbles to make her happy.
She just needs to learn to wear the right shoes for the occasion.

Rachelle and I challenged the boys to a game of lightning. Yes, I was the first one out pretty much every round. Oh well, I am a good sport. Besides if I wasn't so bad at basketball, I wouldn't have gotten these cute pictures right.

Our Leprechaun

From what I have heard Leprechaun's are messy. They dump desks at school, and go through kids' rooms and scatter things, but not ours. I guess "it" knows that I live here and thankfully we have a nice little Leprechaun that just leaves a trail of clovers and a treat every year. Owen and I are yucky and sick. We have strep throat and it is miserable. Hopefully the meds kick in and we are feeling better tomorrow.

4th Grade Champions

Tonight Owens basketball team fought hard and won the championship. Owen stayed home from school today sick, and went to the game with a 102 degree fever (yes I know bad parents), but he had the best game he has ever played. He scored 14 points! Yay go Owen!! This little team is amazing. They have learned to play together so well. They got trophies and t-shirts.

Yes, I promise all these kids are the same age (or older) than Owen. He sticks out slightly. It is fun (although sometimes frustrating) to hear the comments that float around during the games. He takes it very well, and loves being so tall. Something funny is that shirt that Owen has on was ordered for the coach. They didn't have one that fit Owen, so he gave Owen his.

PS Rachelle THANKYOU so much for saving my blog!!!

Our extra hour of daylight

Was spent outside playing. I don't have much to update on and so here are just a few pictures from today. The kids enjoyed the extra hour of daylight goofing off outside.

We tried something new

And had a GREAT time together. Owen went ice skating a few weeks ago with school, and ever since then he has been begging to go again. So tonight I took my kids, Carrie and her girls joined us. It was scarey, I hadn't been on ice skates since I was about, oh gosh, maybe 8 or 9 years old. I figured if Davis could just jump right in and go for it, than I couldn't let him show me up. Even Ally had a pair of skates on. She didn't like it at first, but after a bit she wanted her skates back on and she went for it. Of course than it was time to go, but she got in one good lap around the rink. But now I am feeling my age, I am sore. After skating we went and had dinner at the Pie. Oh my word, that is a lot of cheese. So much for getting excercise skating, one piece of pizza and the exercise is out the window. It was a very fun evening, I love hanging out and doing things like this with my kids. They still aren't too old, to skate around the rink holding their mom's hand. I love my kids!

Ally's day

This is the last of the birthday posts for awhile. We have one a month for the first 3 months of the year, and with having parties with both sides of the family it seems as if that is all I have posted about lately! It seems as if Ally has had numerous "burkays". We had the combined party with my family and one with Clarks, and then she found her gift a week ago, so she thought that was the day, and we fooled her again today. With school, and work and sports it worked out best that we have her party today. So tomorrow will be a boring, normal day for her, we will just have to keep it quiet that tomorrow is her "real" birthday. We took her and all the little cousins to Boondocks to play on the jungle gym. They had a great time running around and playing together. Happy 2nd Burkay Allison. We sure love you!!!
