It was a good one
The boys are back in school, summer vacation is over. And here is a quick overview of our summer in pictures. We had a fabulous summer and got to do many fun things and make lots of memories. Thanks for the fun summer Owen and Davis and Ally. Have a great school year Owen & Davis. Sorry Ally you are not so lucky and you are stuck with your mom still.

School Days
It came again, the first day of school. My boys tried to hide their excitement, but if you know Davis you know how uncommon it is for him to be up & dressed INCLUDING shoes by 7:30. And Owen tried to play it cool, but I know him too well to believe that. After the bus pulled away, I asked Ally if she was happy or sad her boys were at school again. Here is her answer...

I am sure she is glad to have full reign of the house, toys & snacks again. But I know she will miss hanging out with her brothers during the day.

Owen 5th grade

Davis 2nd grade

They came home and said it was a great day. And props to me, I made it until 12:30 before I drove over to the school to see the boys. I missed them and just wanted to say hi.

We did it
Last day of summer vacation was a success. I had no plans, but a friend called us and invited us to go to the splash pad. It wasn't very warm (gee that is how the summer started too) but the kids didn't care and the had a great time. Tomorrow the bus will come and pick my boys up. And they will start looking forward to next summer vacation I am sure.

No school for us!
All of our family started school today. But Weber county starts on Wednesday. So we took advantage of Davis county being in school and we went and played at Chuck e Cheese. It wasn't crowded at all. Although I was a mean mom for 5 minutes and made the boys get their back to school haircuts before we went to play. Bribery is a wonderful thing and I am not ashamed to admit I use it in my parenting! My kids have one more day of summer before they join everyone else in school. But I went and made a doctors appointment for the boys tomorrow. Not a fun way to fill their last day of summer. But they have been having problems with their breathing and we need to get some tests done. I was told they had asthma when they were little, but they have never had problems until this year. And it is scarey when the football coach comes up to you and says your kid can't breathe what should we do. So anyway we will be going to the doctor tomorrow. I hope all our family had a great day at school today, think of my boys on Wednesday they will be right there along with ya.

Good Game Day!
The boys had their first football games of the season today. They did excellent. The games were exicting, hot, but exciting. Owens team won 32 to 0 and Davis' team won 24 to 0. I would say that is a pretty good day for football!
Owen is #46 & Davis is #62. They also have the big X's on their helmets.
Davis also plays center. So he is the one with his hand on the ball getting ready to snap it.
I told the boys, my favorite part of the game is when they call their team into the huddle. I love to hear them yell "huddle, huddle, huddle." I know corny, but it makes me smile. So here is Davis calling his team in.
It takes 3 or 4 of the other team to get Owen down!

The real deal
I now have a 10 year old. Today was Owens birthday & we took him and some friends to a movie. Despicable Me is a very cute movie. A friend of mine watched Ally and Davis, so I was actually able to sit and watch the whole movie. He got sang to at football practice and shared cupcakes with his team. And we ended the day at Texas Roadhouse for dinner. That is where we went last year after football on Owens birthday for dinner also. I see a trend starting here. The kid loves his steak! The boys have their first football games tomorrow. It is a very exciting night here in our house. They are in bed resting up for the big day. I love watching my boys play football, so I am just as excited as them, but I do think I am more nervous than them.

A sad day
When I started this blog, my plan was to keep it as my journal. I have lots of fun memories recorded on here, but I figure I need to post the sad things too. This one is for my boys. They lost their loved dog Scout today. He hasn't been doing the things he loved lately. Like chasing the tennis ball, riding on the 4 wheeler, running the fence line when the kids are out front on their bikes, or even swimming. He has been very sad and not able to move much. We made the choice today to have him put down. My heart broke for my boys. Owen was outside yesterday crying all day while trying to get scout to eat out of his hand. Davis seemed ok, until this morning when it was time to take him in, then he let the tears out. Scout couldn't even walk to the car so Clark had to carry him. What made me cry was when Clark was pulling out of the driveway, Ally waved and said bye bye Scout. He was a fantastic dog. He was so patient with the kids. No matter how rough Ally or Davis played with him, he played along. He was a fun, lovable family pet.

Now this is a handsome boy! And WOW, he is turning 10 this week!!! We had a birthday party for Owen this evening. With football going on now, we decided to have the party this weekend because next weekend the boys start their games. And we had a great evening. Thanks to all our family who came (and those that couldn't make it thanks to you also) for your love that you all show my kids and Clark and I too. We are very blessed to live around all our family. My kids would be so sad without their cousins to play with so often. We had a Stewart Family Original party. Complete with swimming and roasting hot dogs. Easy and fun!!

Owen didn't want a cake this year. His favorite treat is "dirt cups" and that is what he wanted for his birthday dessert.

Facing the future
As I have watched my boys grow over the years, I tried to deny the fact that they were "large". I ignored the comments about their size and people saying wow what great football players they will be. I didn't let Owen play his first year, just because I didn't want him to play...ever. Well, I lost that battle. And now Owen is in his third year, and Davis is beginning this year. And I do have to admit I love it!! They are SO fun to watch, and they are great football players.

I do enjoy watching my boys play football, but I still find it very funny how the coaches cheer the players on when tackling. They all huddle around and just watch intently. I look at these pictures and I can just hear the coaches cheering the boys on to just "sack him". I heard Davis' coach tonight say hit them hard and when they fall jump on them. Whew, not quite what a mom wants to hear, but as I have been told it is football!

Poor Ally, she is the cutest team manager out there though!!

Bike ride/Hike
It happens every year. At the beginning of the summer, my kids and I talk about all these things we want to do for the summer and it seems as if we have all the time in the world. But once again we are scrambling to get stuff done. I got a bike at the beginning of the summer and the kids and I started scoping out bike trails. I thought it would be so fun to go for rides with the kids. And it is, rides around the neighborhood on nice level ground that is. Oh my gosh, I am out of shape, my kids kicked my can today as we finally made it to a trail in Riverdale. We will definitely be going back in the fall. My favorite time of year to go hiking. There were a ton of trails off the main trail to go hiking on and they will be beautiful when the leaves change colors. I am so excited for that time of year!

I'm broke

Oigh! We went "Back to School" shopping today and Friday last week. I had to break it up into two days, because it is a chore. A very expensive chore. I used to do this without my kids. I tried again this year, because lets face it, it is just easier. But I came home and nothing fit. It was all too small. I don't want to admit that my 9 year old son wears a size 9 1/2 shoe. Oh my gosh, when did my kids grow up?!? So I gave up trying to do it myself and off we went to the mall. Me and my boys have different taste, but they enjoyed doing their shopping and we were able to compromise on most items. My boys will be looking quite handsome on the first day of school!

No markers allowed!
I went shopping for school supplies this morning and picked up a couple boxes of markers. I threw a box in Ally's bag along with her coloring book and we went to Krissy's house. All the kids grabbed the markers and ran downstairs. We saw the kids again a few minutes later after it was too late. I am so glad I bought the washable markers! Oh and YEAH the boys are home. Besides the cave, fishing and the train, today they visited Cove Fort. They had a fantastic time! So here are a few more pictures from their trip.
