Family BBQ

We got together at Mat and Andreas last night, for a BBQ.  Rachelle brought her big slip and slide and Raider cooked us some yummy burgers on the grill, and Josh had a birthday to celebrate....what else is needed for a fun family night?!
Right now there are 15 grand kids.  8 boys and 7 girls.  Krissy finds out this week if #16 (and I'm sure the last) will tie the boy/girl count or if the boys will end in the lead.
How on earth Lu didn't even flinch as she had 130 lbs rolling over her, I do not know.  She had Davis and Parker make a playground out of her and didn't even look away from her phone once, now that must have been something pretty serious she was dealing with on her phone.

Kong Cones

We were told about Kong Cones from a friend and we just had to go try them for ourselves.  We just couldn't hear about these huge ice cream cones and not go get one.  Macey's grocery store has them and they are yummy!  And huge.  The sign says it is a 1 lb. cone.  Oh my mouth is watering for one right now.
After a rough week, and cleaning up a second flood in the basement, we had to go twice to get a Kong Cone.  They come in a few different sizes, but like I said it was a bad week and we needed to get konged!  Welcome to the Kong Club Connor and Parker.  Hope you enjoyed your treat.  Thanks for coming along.

Smurfs 2

One of the things that we put on our Summer bucket list was to see all the "2" movies at the drive in.  Well, Smurfs 2 came out at the end of July and that checked off this item on our list.  We saw Monsters University, Despicable Me 2 and now Smurfs 2.  There are only 2 items left on our summer bucket list and then we will have completed it all.  Kinda sad, that means summer vacation is coming to an end.  One more week to live it up, and we have plans to do just that next week.  Crossing those last activities off our list and celebrating a birthday, and the first football game of the season.... it is going to be a great week!

Celebrate

Grandma Jones celebrated her 80th birthday with a party at her house.  The kids all love to go to Grandma and Grandpa Jones.  They definitely are one of a kind grandparents and they love their family so much and they are so nice and full of service for others.

Bethany and her Oweee
Grandma has tons of dress ups that the kids love to play with.  They even put on a few skits for the adults.
Not sure what Owen and Chris were, but they thought they were pretty funny all the same.
A video was made, and Ally watched that whole thing and was so sad because there were no pictures of her and Grandma Jones.  She wanted one of her and Grandma before the night was over, it is a darling picture!

Slacker

I've got a folder of photos on my computer that I've taken just randomly or photos that have been sent to me.  I will usually blog about them when not much is going on, but they have piled up lately.  Summer is busy, and we have had a fantastic time, so I've had other things to blog about.  I need to get that folder cleaned out though, so I will begin August with a random post.

I went to pick Davis up at a friends house one day and he said "mom, come out back, I have to show you something".  He jumped on a wiggle car and his friends dog was right there to join in the fun.  This dog was so funny, and I loved hearing the laughs their game created.  She was pushing him all over the yard on the wiggle car, by placing her head on Davis's back and running.  Funniest thing, I've ever seen a dog do.
We still Lu when our schedules both permit a play date.  This day we had gone to Toads, but had a craving for some sweets.  Winco is the best place to visit when that craving hits!
We've done lots of fun things this summer, but somedays I need to stay home and catch up on laundry and chores.  Well, I may be working, but Davis and Gator are going through withdrawls.  Those 2 think they have to have friends over all the time.  I don't mind, my kids have really good friends.
Owen was asked to play a 7 on 7 tournament with the junior high.  He was excited to play some football again, and it made him so excited for the upcoming season.  Well, Davis has started with the city now, but Owen is going to try out for the junior high team.  That is so strange being at the football park with only one boy practicing.  The last 3 years I've gone from one field to the other watching both boys practice.  Anyway the tournament was fun, but blazing hot.  And I was in the shade!  Owen didn't complain once about the heat though, he was playing football, he didn't care about anything else.
It was back to the boys turn to go on a trip with Dave and Sheila.  It is so fun that they do this every year with their grandkids.  They all love it and can't wait for their turn.  This year they traveled down to St. George and saw a play at  Tuacahn.  I've never been there.  My boys go so many places I've never been to.  They saw Starlight Express.  It's a play where a child dreams his train set comes alive and he races across America.  They really enjoyed it.  I hate not being with them, I miss them, but I can't take pictures either.  Dang it, but Dave did send me a few on my phone.  They know I can't survive with my pictures.
While the boys were gone Gator and I had some girl time.  Owen sent a text to her saying they were eating at Olive Garden.  How dare they go to her favorite restaurant with out her.  She just wouldn't stand for it, and her and I went to Olive Garden that night for dinner also.  She had a play date with Ty and Blake and Millie also while the boys were gone.  We had fun, but she missed her boys terribly.
Swimming lessons are well under way as well.  Her teacher suggested a swim team for Ally last week.  Five and on a swim team?  I was surprised, but the girl loves to swim and she is really a good little swimmer.  I may look into the swim team thing in the winter when she is missing her favorite summer activity.

Owen just got home from his trip with his grandparents and he took off for scout camp.  I was having some serious anxiety about sending him away for a whole week for scout camp for the first time ever.  He never seemed nervous at all though, and was excited.  I haven't heard anything and it is Thursday so I guess no news is good news here.
We had some excitement here of our own though.  Monday, as Dave and Grandpa Jones were finishing up some work on the AC, we had a flood in the basement.  It was a big mess and I broke down in tears.  Why in the world was this happening.  The tears quickly dried up though and I decided to look for blessings in the situation.  The problem was quickly solved the next day, and I feel a boost in my testimony.  I know how can a clogged sewer help build my testimony?  Just another blessing from the situation.  Davis and Ally didn't mind though, they got a sleep over at their grandparents out of it.
Last weekend, we had a small family reunion with my dads family.  It's been a long time since I've seen a lot of them.  It was fun to think about memories I have from growing up.

A backyard party

It has been so blasted hot this summer, we are officially cooked.  The house AC is broken so we try to get out of the house and do some stuff, but the bad thing is that the car AC is broke as well.  So our activities have to be close and cool.  Friday we went to the theater with some friends and saw Turbo.  I haven't been sleeping well, so I sat in a cool building and began nodding off.  The movie was cute, I was just exhausted.
Our friends came over after the movie for a backyard party.  Swimming and roasting hot dogs and smores.
After it got dark last night, the kids and I weren't ready for bed yet so we did some glow in the dark bowling.  I got the idea off Pinterest and it was a lot of fun.  The kids thought it was great fun, especially because they got to stay up so late.
Growing up, we slept outside on the trampoline all summer.  The bright hot sun would wake us up and we would all end up in a big pile in the middle of the trampoline.  My kids have always wanted to spend the night outside, but I was scared to have them do it alone, and I just never really wanted to.  Anyway last night we rented a movie and piled blankets and pillows on the trampoline with every intention of sleeping there all night.  As my allergies were exploding and I was laying there so extremely uncomfortable, I was thinking what in the world had I gotten myself into.  Ally was snoozing away as soon as we turned the movie on, I was sneezing away and the boys were just watching the movie.  Luckily Davis spoke up first stating he just didn't want to sleep on the trampoline all night.  I made double sure he wanted to go to the trailer, just so I didn't sound so anxious to abandon their fun, and him and I carried Gator to the trailer where we spent the night.  Owen was the only one that stayed on the trampoline.  And instead of the hot sun waking him up, it was a few raindrops.  I was hoping it would continue raining, but the sun is breaking through the clouds and it is going to be another hot day.  It has been a very fun busy summer, but I am just ready for some cooler weather.

Road Trip

We loaded up the cars this weekend and took off with everyone on a road trip.  We wanted to get away, so we went to Vernal.  It is far enough to be "away", but not too far.  We had a fantastic weekend.  It was so fun being with everyone and hanging out.  We got a little loud at times, but we were on vacation!
The big hang out spot was the Hotel Pool.  It was very hot, and the water felt great and we couldn't get any of these fish out of the water!
The Temple grounds were very pretty.  We drove by the temple today, and it was all locked up since it was Sunday, but we were still able to see the temple.  The little kids fit right through the gate, but we didn't feel right about breaking into the temple grounds for pictures, so we quickly told them to get out, even though I was tempted to tell them just to run up and sit on the steps just real quick for a picture.
Dinosaurs!!  Lots of dinosaurs in  Vernal.
