Animal Lover

In my class I have some great peer tutors.  My most favorite though is a cute girl name Shaylie.  She is such a sweet girl and I just love her as a friend, and as a helper with my students.  She does rodeo and we've talked a few times about her horses.  I told her I had an animal lover daughter and she texted me this afternoon and asked if I wanted to bring Gator over for a ride.  Gator was on cloud 9, it was so much fun seeing her riding the horses.  Shaylie told her she was welcome anytime to ride with her and Gator smiled ear to ear.

Playoffs

We traveled down to UVU tonight to watch Fremont in the playoffs.  Sadly, the team had a rough time and lost tonight.  I was so proud as I watched Owen though, he has progressed amazingly this season.  It was a rocky beginning, but he stuck it out and he played quite a bit of varsity time and really made some noise on the court.  As sick as it makes me, there is no other place I'd rather be, then on the sidelines cheering my kids on.  I love to watch them and support them.  It is tough when all together they have over 50 games a month, but it is so rewarding watching them accomplish great things.  Poor Gator got carsick on the way home, or so I thought it was car sickness, but looks like I'll be taking the day off tomorrow to stay home with her.

Signs of spring

It has been a very wet week, lots of rain and melting snow.  Many people are dealing with flooding, luckily our house has been fine.  Yesterday and today the sun has been out, and although it is chilly, the sun has been shining brightly and spring is showing that it is not far off.  It is a good thing I live in Utah, because I love the changing seasons, and I'm feeling a bit of spring fever.

One heck of a game!!

There was lots to do this weekend.  The first Friday in February is National Bubble Gum Day.  So Davis had to share his birthday.  My students had fun celebrating with me, and I found this picture from our first Bubble Gum Day 4 years ago.
The first Saturday in February is National Ice Cream for Breakfast Day.  We discovered this one 5 years ago, and we haven't missed a year since.
And of course the first Sunday in February is Super Bowl Sunday.  Owen's Patriots were in it again this year against the Atlanta Falcons.  We were all going in thinking the Patriots and Tom Brady would get their 5th Super Bowl victory, but by the end of the first quarter we were disgusted with the game.  The Patriots were playing terrible and we all questioned our team loyalty.  It took them until the end of the 3rd quarter to remember how to play the game of football and went on a 25 point streak to tie it up with seconds to spare in the game.  First overtime in Super Bowl history.  I was downstairs watching it with the boys and they were more entertaining then the actual game and that is saying a lot because it was an amazing game, and it left us all dumbfounded and exhausted.   First possesion of overtime, the Patriots came out 5 time Super bowl champs.  What an amazing game!!
And according to the Groundhog we have 6 more weeks of winter, but this weekend sure felt like spring.

Happy 14th

We end January with a birthday, and start February with another birthday.  Davis is definitely a strong willed child.  If he doesn't want to do something, he will not do it, but on the other hand if it is something he wants like skiing, basketball or longboarding, he is all in and loves every second of it.  He is a fantastic student, and is very smart, it seems to come very easy for him.  I am a bit nervous for the day where he is in college and he actually has to study. Davis is very mellow, he is laid back and not much gets to him, but he is a very loyal person, he is one of my best friends and now he is 14.  He wanted  nothing more for his birthday then a new longboard and some wings from Buffalo Wild Wings, he's easy to please.  I got some of his buddies and invited them to my classroom for a pizza and ice cream party during lunch.  Then after school, his junior high team won their playoff game and is now heading for the championship next week.  When asked what he wanted to do in the evening, he chose to jump on his new longboard and go to a friends, where they went to the gym to play basketball for a couple hours.  See, a simple kid.  I thank my Heavenly Father every day he is mine, and I'm eternally grateful to be his mother.  He is perfect for our family, and he is a wonderful middle child.  I love you Davis, Happy Birthday!

Soccer Hero

Livia is Gator's soccer hero, she loves watching her play.  Tonight we went and watched Lu sign to play with the University of Utah.  Can't wait to go to some of her games.
After her own game scoring 3 goals!!  She can play like her hero one day if she keeps working hard!

Happy 39th

It was a pretty low key birthday.  All the snow we got this week was calling Davis's name up at Snow Basin.  He just couldn't say no, and I knew he wanted to go skiing really bad, so I said go and have a great time.
Owen and Gator went grocery shopping with me, but we stopped for lunch at Zaxby's first.
Gator gave me this picture, and I got some fun snap chats from Owen, Davis, and Gator.
Davis was gone all day, and Owen wanted to go to a fireside in the evening so he missed out on the facial masks we did.  Gator loves doing "spa" nights.  I played the guilt trip card on Davis because he had been skiing all day long on my birthday, so he joined us in the experience.
I did finally get what I wanted for my birthday though, and because of the couple hours spent eating Chinese food and watching a sappy Valentines love story with my favorite people, it ended up being the perfect birthday.
