That is it for June!

Already 1 month of our summer vacation is over.  Why does it have to go so fast?  As busy as it was, June was still good.  I'm looking forward to a little more family time in July.  We have some fun days planned, and of course there is the 4th of July.  Gator finally had her soccer tournament.  She made very sure the boys planned on coming.  She was excited and although her team didn't win, they played so good and it was SO HOT.  We have an independent team within SWAT.  The other teams are clubs and have many teams to pull from.  It is pretty discouraging when our 4th grade team played 6th graders.  But the parents were more discouraged then our girls.  The girls looked great and really held their own.  I'm so proud of the way Gator played, she hardly got rotated out, and she was exhausted, but she played her heart out. 

Another Water Wednesday.  We don't really need this day dedicated to swimming, we usually swim 2-3 times a week, but it's still fun.  Gator and Davis both invited a friend along.  Even Owen got to join us for an hour before he had to leave to go to work.

I'm thinking of changing Thursday to "Try it Thursday".  A day to try a new treat, lunch place, or activity.  This week we took a quick trip to Freddy's Custard and got a cool treat before Owen went to work in 100 degrees. 

And for Family Friday, we went to Fat Cats.  I love their .99 cent summer.  I'm doing really good sharing my kids this summer with work, sports, and friends.  I usually just invite pals along with us, but Owen wanted to go fishing.  I didn't want to join them on that stinky activity, so he went fishing and the rest of us went to an air conditioned place to play. 

And the sleep walking continues. He is getting destructive, but doesn't remember this at all.  Woke up in the morning and wondered what the heck happened.   

 

 

Tubing

As you can tell Gator and I are having a fun summer.  But we are really missing our boys.  June they have been so busy with sports, they haven't been able to play with us as much as usual.  She doesn't mind at all, but I do.  I want to have all my kids with me all summer long.  I know this isn't possible, and it is just going to be more and more the case.  But today I had them.  It was only for a couple hours before Owen had to go to work, but I still had them and I made the executive descion that we were going to forgo Mountain Monday and go tubing.  Davis wasn't keen on the idea once he stuck his toe in the freezing cold river, but he did manage to look like he was enjoying himself long enough to get a picture for me.  That child hates being cold, which is funny to me because he is the only one that ski's, and it most definetely has to be cold for that.  He came home from the river and took a hot shower and put on sweats.  He is not my child, and had to have been switched at birth. 

Bird Babies

I've become very attached to the little babies outside in my tree.  I check on them all day long and I love watching them grow.  I've made a few comparisons to my own kids, that tells me I'm spending too much time with these birds.  For the first few days any movement to the nest at all woke them all up thinking they were going to get fed and they all stuck up their heads and opened their mouths thinking the mom was going to feed them.  I laugh because this is just like my kids.  "What is there to eat mom", "I'm hungry", "feed me"!!  This morning I was actually crying over these babies.  Their eyes are open, their baby fluff is gone, and they have feathers.  The little nest is getting crowded as they grow.  Soon they will fly away.  That just made me cry as I thought about Owen being a senior, Davis being in 9th grade, and Gator in 4th.  Our "nest" is getting crowded as my kids are growing and all too soon they will also fly away.  Clearly I have too much time on my hands and I'm going a little crazy crying over birds, but I'm a mom, I have every right. 

 

West Haven Days

We usually make it to the rodeo and fireworks for West Haven Days.  The last couple of years Owen has had to work at the rodeo, but Davis and Gator and I go to the rodeo.  Davis didn't do much rodeo watching, he found some friends, but I did get a picture of him to prove he was there even if it was just for 5 minutes.  Gator's favorite is the barrel racing, she waits not so patiently because it is always at the end.  I like the bulls, but this year the clown was so funny.  He stole the show, the rodeo was kinda slow this year, so thank goodness for the funny clown.  The fireworks were awesome.  It is always a  good show, and it's so exciting because we get to watch more fireworks next week for the 4th of July!

Scrimmages

It was a long week for the boys with Fremont football camp.  They both had a great time though.  They may do a lot of work, but this camp is a lot of play as well like a swim party at Lorin Farr pool.  They also get fed really good food every day.  So it's hard to feel too sorry for them out in the hot sun with pads on.  Today was the end of the camp and we went to watch them scrimmage for our Family Friday.  I have to say, it was strange knowing this was Owen's last year playing high school football, and Davis's first.  He still hasn't completely decided if he is going to play up this year as a freshman, but I think the team needs him, he is the starting center on the sophomore team. 

Extra swimming and some cooking

Gator would seriously swim in the pool everyday for at least 10 hours a day if I was willing to take her that often.  Since we all enjoy it a little less then her, she is totally taking advantage of the boys being busy.  That gives her free reign of choosing what we do and we almost always end up at a pool.  She is also enjoying treat Tuesday's.  The boys are loving the treats, and she is loving learning how to cook.  She is getting pretty good at it, she just needs to learn that cleaning up the kitchen is part of the cooking as well. 

Water Wednesday

We swim so much in the summer, that I was going to try to keep this water Wednesday quiet and maybe Gator would forget, but no such chance.  We made a visit to Rachelle and the kids in their new house.  And went out for snowcones.  The boys have been house/dog sitting this week for Carrie and Wayne who are in Puerto Rico (not fair), so we haven't seen them much.  We planned to go make dinner at Carrie's after they got back from football camp, and I didn't want to go all the way home in between, so that opened up a couple hours for us to find something to do.  We went over to visit Krissy and Gator remembered it was Wednesday and we hadn't been swimming yet.  So we loaded up the car with everyone and went to the splash pad.  It felt so nice and it was later in the afternoon, so it wasn't crowded at all. 

 Giving Nalu and Koa some attention while the girls are out of town.  Gator needs to love on pets as much as the pets need the love. 

Football & Basketball and a little shadow

I'm so sick of my car the last couple of days.  Thursday I drove up to Logan again this time with Davis.  He was invited to a basketball camp with Fremont.  He was so excited to stay in the dorms and play basketball for 3 days with the High School.  Scooter, water balloon launcher, and lots of junk food and he was ready for the weekend.  Owen woke me up at 1am Friday morning saying he just got a text about another football camp he really wanted to go to at 8am.  So we slept a couple of hours, then headed down to Lone Peak.  He went to this camp last year, it's a good one because over 100 college coaches come to watch the boys.  I met the ISU coaches, they would be a lot of fun for Owen to play for, I met the Weber coaches, as well as the Washington State (Owen's first choice and he's dying for them to extend an offer) coaches.  Owen is exhausted, he has been traveling and playing football now for about 2 weeks, and he still has this whole next week.  It's what he has worked for though, and he is loving it!  After that camp all day, we woke up early again today to go back up to Utah State to watch some of Davis's games.  There were 2 sophomore teams, and the one that Davis played with went undefeated and won the championship!  It was awesome watching Davis play with the High School kids.  He hasn't decided yet if he is going to play up as a Freshmen this year or stay at Rocky one more year, but he definitely proved that he can play with the older kids, he played great!  The boys did amazing, but I owe my shadow a huge shout out!  Gator is such a supportive little sister.  She follows her boys around with me and keeps me company and cheers for them.  She's gotten up at 5:45 am the last couple of mornings to take care of the neighbors dogs before setting out to camps with me.  I taught her to play Phase 10, so we've been sitting on the grass or dirty gym floors for the last 2 days playing cards and laughing and supporting our boys. 

 The championship game was played in the Spectrum.  I walked in and the chairs were terrible.  I thought oh gosh, they must've got these on clearance or something.  Seriously, there had to be a story behind these seats, so I turned to google and I found out they were these colors to signify the fall leaves in Logan canyon.  Okay, I love fall, so now I love these seats! 

We went to Aggie Icecream last week with Owen, so of course we had to go back this week with Davis!
