Eternal Family Day, Birthday Party, and Prom

We're trying to find ways to fix what is broken right now.  Gator planned her birthday party over a year ago, and we scheduled an appointment at the temple back in January to ensure that we would be able to have the party that she wanted.  She has talked about going to the temple with family and friends to do baptisms for the dead and then out to ice cream.  She knew exactly what she wanted and so she waited until her birthday.  Then comes along Coronavirus and it's ugly destruction and threatened to take it away.  The church announced all temples around the world would close as off March 14th at closing.  We made in by the skin of our teeth.  Her party was planned for 1:00 today March 14th.  She has never been so excited I don't think, as she was to finally be able to have her birthday celebration in the temple.  I actually think this is what she is most disappointed about with all the craziness, she loves going to the temple and will miss it terribly, but she will be there right when they open back up.
Yesterday was my Eternal Family Day.  I will still celebrate March 13, Coronavirus and a stupid divorce can't keep me from celebrating.  I love to celebrate anything, and my family is my favorite thing to celebrate.
Also today was supposed to be prom for Davis.  And like everything else, it was cancelled.  For high school kids, prom is a big deal.  They want to dress up and go out with their friends and have a fun night.  Well, there wasn't a dance, but that didn't stop any of them from still having "prom".  They just all did it in their own way and still had a great time.  Luckily their day date was able to still happen (yesterday) since they had plans to go to Midway and swim in the crater.  Maybe we shouldn't be finding the last of the open places and going to them until the whole world is shut down, but we are and there are just a few places left open.  They went to the Prairie Schooner for dinner and then they went to a kids house and hung out.  I'm sure they had a great time still for prom 2020 and made great memories.
